Biggest win margin by teams in T20 World Cup Final [Source: X]
India have achieved an unprecedented feat with their third ICC trophy in a row, and what makes it more exciting is that the win did not come from a thriller or a nail-biter, but from a tough and dominant encounter against New Zealand.
The India vs New Zealand clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8 witnessed a mammoth 96-run win that set a record for any team that has earlier won a T20 World Cup final by such a huge margin.
With India having multiple entries in the same list, let's take a look at which teams have managed to get the biggest win margins in such World Cup finals.
Biggest Win Margins In T20 World Cup Final
5) Australia- 8 wickets (Australia vs New Zealand, 2021)
Australia won in a dominant fashion against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2021 final. The match, played in Dubai, saw skipper Aaron Finch lead Australia in a successful chase of 173 against New Zealand.
While batting, the Kangaroos had David Warner give a solid start with his 38-ball 53. The skipper himself was dismissed early, yet Mitchell Marsh's quickfire 50-ball 77 and Glenn Maxwell's 18-ball 28 saw the game end with 8 wickets remaining and 7 balls left to be bowled.

4) India- 5 runs (India vs Pakistan, 2007)
The T20 World Cup 2007, played between India and Pakistan, was won by the former with a margin of 5 runs. India, who batted first against the Men in Green, saw Gautam Gambhir score a 54-ball 75 at a strike rate of 138.88 when players like Yusuf Pathan, Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh, as well as MS Dhoni were faltering.
It was Gambhir and Rohit Sharma's knocks that led India to a total of 157/5. However, thanks to RP Singh and Irfan Pathan's 3-fers, Pakistan lost the match by 5 runs in the T20 World Cup final, where they were bundled out for 152, with only Misbah-ul-Haq top-scoring with his 38-ball 43.
3) India- 7 runs (India vs South Africa, 2024)
Just ahead of this edition of the World Cup victory, in 2024, India won a breath-taking match against South Africa on June 29 by a margin of 7 runs. India put up a total of 176 runs on the board, courtesy of Virat Kohli's 59-ball 76 and a late blitz from Axar Patel and Shivam Dube down the batting order.
The total, which didn't look solid enough in the beginning, eventually became a mountain for South Africa to achieve after they reeled at three wickets for 70 runs inside 8.5 overs.
Eventually, Heinrich Klaasen and Tristan Stubbs almost closed the gap between balls left and runs required, but Hardik Pandya's crucial overs and three-wicket haul ultimately crumbled the Proteas at only 169 runs at the end of the game.
2) West Indies- 36 runs (West Indies vs Sri Lanka, 2012)
West Indies are the team to have the second-biggest margin in a T20 World Cup final win. Back on October 7, 2012, in Colombo, West Indies were facing a bolstered Sri Lanka side, where they put up only a modest target of 137 runs on the board, led by Marlon Samuels' 78-run blitz and Daren Sammy's 15-ball 26 towards the end.
However, Sri Lanka faltered from the very beginning, despite having names like Mahela Jayawardene, Tillakaratne Dilshan, and Kumar Sangakkara. Sri Lanka struggled at 61 for 5 at the end of 12.3 overs, thanks to Sunil Narine's three-wicket haul and Sammy's consistent and constrictive bowling attack.
Ultimately, Sri Lanka succumbed to the total and were bundled out for 101 runs inside 18.4 overs, handing West Indies a win by 36 runs.
1) India- 96 runs (India vs New Zealand, 2026)
The biggest margin in a T20 World Cup final is, however, held by India with their massive 96-run win against New Zealand in 2026. Playing at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India broke multiple records while posting a mammoth total of 255 runs on the board.
Sanju Samson led with his 89-run knock, while Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shivam Dube followed up the momentum to post the massive total.
New Zealand, though, faltered from the very beginning, struggling at 74/4 at the end of 7.4 overs, with only Mitchell Santner and Tim Seifert trying to create some resistance. All was in vain, though, as Jasprit Bumrah, the man of the match, scalped four wickets while giving away just 15 runs to seal India's dream of defending the title.
