Player Bio

A young, upcoming all-rounder, Aaron Hardie, is a professional cricketer for Australia. An aggressive middle-order batter and a quality medium pacer, Hardie was awarded a rookie contract for both the Warriors and Scorchers squads for the first time in 2018-19. The all-rounder also skippered the U-19 side of Western Australia to a victory in the National Championships in the 2017-18 domestic season.

After a string of impressive domestic performances, Hardie earned a call-up to the U-19 Australian side and dazzled everyone with a majestic 85-run knock against Pakistan.

Known for getting the big scalps of the opponent’s side, the youngster grabbed headlines when he struck the wicket of Joe Root during their tour match against a WA XI in 2017, and then sent Virat Kohli home during Cricket Australia XI’s clash against India in November 2018.

Hardie was signed by Perth Scorchers before the eighth edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) but appeared in just a handful of games in his debut season.

In the Sheffield Shield final of 2021/22, he proved to be a vital cog, helping Western Australia bag a Sheffield Shield title in 23 years.

During Western Australia's second innings, he showcased exceptional batting prowess by scoring an unbeaten 174 runs off 317 balls. His innings featured a composed and patient approach, stabilizing the team's position after early wickets. Hardie's partnership with captain Sam Whiteman was pivotal as they amassed a 184-run stand for the sixth wicket. In addition to his batting heroics, Hardie made a significant impact with the ball. In Victoria's first innings, he claimed three crucial wickets for 54 runs.

In June 2022, Hardie joined Surrey County Cricket Club to participate in England's T20 Blast and County Championship. During the T20 Blast, Hardie featured in three matches, scoring a total of 29 runs with a highest score of 15, and maintained a strike rate of 138.10. He also contributed with the ball, taking one wicket across these appearances. In the County Championship, Hardie made a notable impact in a match against Yorkshire at Scarborough. During the fourth innings, he formed an 81-run partnership that was instrumental in Surrey's successful chase.

After a year, Hardie made his T20I debut against South Africa, where he batted at number seven and scored 23 runs off 14 balls, contributing to Australia's formidable total of 226 for 6. With the ball, he just got an over to show his skills. Stepping onto the international stage in the 50-over format, Hardie made his ODI debut in September 2023 against South Africa at Bloemfontein. Batting lower down the order, he contributed 17 runs off 15 balls, striking two boundaries before falling to Tabraiz Shamsi.

Expanding his horizons to franchise cricket in the United States, the Australian all-rounder featured in the 2024 edition of Major League Cricket (MLC), representing the Texas Super Kings. Across the tournament, he played a crucial role as a seam-bowling all-rounder, contributing with both bat and ball.

Despite his inclusion in the squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy, Hardie was omitted from Australia's playing XI for their opening match against England, with the team management opting for Marnus Labuschagne in the middle order.

Hardie was acquired by the Punjab Kings for INR 1.25 crore during the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. Joining a roster rich with talent, including fellow Australians Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Josh Inglis, Hardie bolstered the team's all-round capabilities.
