Mitchell Marsh (Australia captain): "(On sealing the series) It has been great. We were obviously keen to win this series and to wrap it up in 2 games is very pleasing. It was 4-1 last time (in 2021) and the one win we had was very lucky.
(On Renshaw and David) The wicket today was a lot better. But very happy for Renners (Renshaw). The partnership between him and David was very good. They managed to even go through the gears and get us to a good score.
(The call to bring in Hardie worked. Thoughts on that?) It was a good. Always nice when they come off. Nathan Ellis' last two overs were game changing for us. Nice to have people like him in the camp.
(What about the one match remaining in the series?) It has been a tough tour. Coming to this part of the world with a bunch of guys with not so much experience is tough. But we will look to finish on a high."
Matt Renshaw (Player of the Match): "[On his knock] I was just trying to trust my skills and got the reward today. We got a good score and they came out pretty hard.
[On his partnership with David] He's obviously got his strengths and I have got mine. We were trying to use ours and had a good total.
[On the first-innings score] After the first game, we knew they will come out scoring fast. It felt a bit nervous. But we knew it was hard to bat because the longer we batted, it got harder to hit. So, it was a good total."
Player of the Match: Matt Renshaw
Towhid Hridoy (Bangladesh Captain): "[Thoughts on the game] We played really good cricket. But in the couple of areas, we need to improve.
[Areas to improve?] We have to carry the responsibility a little bit more for the team.
[On the batters' taking responsibility] We were talking about it. When the batters are set, they have to play bigger innings.
[Thoughts on their batting performance] We have to chase such type of totals as a team. We will come back stronger."
- This is the first bilateral Men's T20I series win for Australia against Bangladesh, having lost their only previous series against them by a 4â1 margin in 2021.
5:05 PM IST, 5:35 PM local time: The change of format has truly brought about a change of fortunes for Australia. They win this game by 7 runs and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series. This also happens to be their first ever Men's T20I series win on Bangladeshi soil.
However, it was no cakewalk. This game, like a rollercoaster ride, went through several twists and turns before eventually coming to a conclusion. Australia began in emphatic style scoring 27/0 off the first 2 overs. But then Bangladesh pulled things back by picking 3 wickets in the next 4 overs.
That was followed by a spectacular partnership of 97 runs between Matt Renshaw and Tim David. The latter was the aggressor initially and set the stadium alight with his 26-ball-45. However, post David's dismissal, Renshaw switched gears and hit some towering sixes on his way to an unbeaten 52-ball-89*. The southpaw's belligerence propelled Australia to 196/5. Nasum Ahmed, with 2/27, was the pick of the bowlers.
However, for the major part it seemed as if Bangladesh would chase it down with some balls to spare. Such was their start. Tanzid Hasan Tamim went crash, bang and wallop in the powerplay to enable them to get to 72/1 in the first 6 overs. After he and Soumya Sarkar got out, Parvez Emon took over, while Saif Hassan held up one end. With the score reading 122/2 in 12 overs, they were the favourites to win it. But Australia pulled it back
Nathan Ellis' street-smarts, Adam Zampa's experience, Joel Davies tight lines and lengths and Aaron Hardie's courage to try different variations all came in handy. Wickets fell at regular intervals to different bowlers as the hosts tried plenty of airy-fairy shots and eventually fell short of the target.
