(Shubman Gill's record in IPL Finals)
As the Gujarat Titans prepare to face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2026 final, all eyes will be on captain Gill.
The prolific opener has enjoyed a sensational campaign, scoring 722 runs in 15 innings at an average of 48.13 and a strike rate of 163.72.
While Gill has dominated IPL 2026, he also carries valuable experience from previous championship matches. Across three IPL finals between 2021 and 2023, Gill has accumulated 135 runs in three innings.
He has an impressive average of 67.50 from these matches and a strike rate of 127.35. His record includes one half-century, with a highest score of 51.

Shubman Gill’s notable performances in knockouts
Gill first showcased his temperament in the IPL 2021 final while representing Kolkata Knight Riders against Chennai Super Kings in Dubai.
Chasing 193, he anchored the innings with a composed 51 off 43 deliveries, striking six boundaries. Although KKR eventually fell short by 27 runs, Gill was one of the few batters who stood firm under pressure.
Two years later, he featured in the dramatic IPL 2023 final for Gujarat Titans against Chennai Super Kings at Ahmedabad.
Coming into the match after a record-breaking season, Gill produced a brisk 39 off just 20 balls, smashing seven fours at a strike rate of 195. Although GT lost in the final-ball thriller, Gill provided the early momentum that helped the Titans post 214/4.
With 135 runs from three finals, Gill has consistently delivered useful contributions in title-deciding encounters and will be backed once again to score big especially after his recent century against Rajasthan Royals.
Shubman Gill’s weak zone that RCB can exploit
Despite his outstanding form, Gill is not without vulnerabilities. Statistical data reveal that left-arm bowlers have troubled him more than right-arm bowlers throughout his IPL career.
Gill averages 24.21 against left-arm bowlers compared to 31.87 against right-arm bowlers. His struggles are particularly noticeable against left-arm spin, where his average drops to 21.16, which makes Krunal Pandya an effective matchup against him.
He has also been dismissed 20 times bowled and 13 times LBW, indicating that bowlers who attack the stumps can create opportunities.
Another trend shows that catches account for 109 of his IPL dismissals, suggesting that forcing him into aerial strokes remains an effective strategy.
However, stopping Shubman Gill will be easier said than done. The GT skipper arrives in the final after having a solid season. If he survives the early stages and the middle overs, he could once again prove to be the difference-maker in an IPL final.
