Vaibhav Sooryavanshi surely knows how to respond his critics and on-field rivals in style. Barely a week after his intense face-off with Sri Lanka A players, the 15-year-old blasted 94 runs off just 29 balls against the same opponents in the final of the ‘A team’ tri-series in Dambulla.
Interestingly, this was not the first instance of Sooryavanshi responding to his rival in style. During the IPL 2026 season, the Rajasthan Royals opener also had a similar run-in with SRH fast bowler Praful Hinge. Their rivalry became one of the most exciting duels of the tournament, and it all culminated with the youngster cracking 97 off just 29 in the Eliminator.
When Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took on Praful Hinge
It all began in match number 21 of the IPL 2026 season a couple of months ago, when SRH fast bowler Praful Hinge bounced out Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for a first-ball duck.
Hinge went on to brag about his success against the teenage sensation, at least to some extent, and indirectly vowed to continue his domination over the blistering opener.

However, a couple of weeks later. Sooryavanshi charted 103 runs off just 37 balls against Praful Hinge and his SRH teammates. The 15-year-old launched five boundaries and 12 huge sixes in the innings before getting trapped in front by Sakib Hussain. Unfortunately for the youngster, the Rajasthan Royals still lost the match by five wickets to SRH in Jaipur.
A month later in New Chandigarh in the all-important Eliminator of the IPL 2026 season, the Royals opener launched another brutal assault against the SRH, this time smearing 97 runs off just 29 balls with five boundaries and 12 huge sixes. While the youngster was eventually dismissed by Hinge in the game, the Royals franchise secured a comprehensive 47-run win to knock SRH out of the competition.
Sooryavanshi serves Sri Lanka A his revenge
A month after knocking Praful Hinge’s SRH out of the IPL 2026 season, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has now served Sri Lanka A players a similar dose of revenge. This time, the 15-year-old clattered 94 runs off just 29 balls in the final of the A team tri-series in Dambulla.
The youngster launched 10 boundaries and eight sixes on the big day, just a week after getting involved in a fiery exchange with the home players. Last week, an outbound Sooryavanshi was seemingly provoked by a couple of Sri Lanka players as they celebrated their thrilling Super Over victory over India.
India A mount huge total in final
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi started off the India A innings with a 132-run partnership with Priyansh Arya in the tri-series final against Sri Lanka in Dambulla on June 21. The youngster himself scored 94 off those runs from just 29 balls.
Tilak Varma also composed a fighting half-century, while Ruturaj Gaikwad and Kumar Kushagra scored crucial runs as India A mounted over 350 runs in the final.
