South Africa Women scripted one of their finest victories in Women's T20 World Cup history after chasing down 159 against India Women in Manchester on June 21, 2026.

The six-wicket win was powered by an outstanding all-round performance from Marizanne Kapp, who first claimed two wickets before producing an unbeaten 81 off just 45 deliveries. Her knock helped South Africa reach 161/4 with five balls to spare and secure a place in the tournament's record books.

The match turned into a record-breaking affair, with several individual and team milestones being achieved. Kapp's innings rewrote multiple batting records, South Africa set new chasing benchmarks. Here is a look at every major record that was broken during the contest.

1) Most Sixes By A South African Batter In Women's T20 World Cup Innings

Marizanne Kapp cleared the boundary four times during her unbeaten 81, setting a new South African record for the most sixes in a Women's T20 World Cup innings.

The previous record stood at three sixes and was jointly held by Chloe Tryon, Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt. Kapp's ability to attack the Indian spinners in the middle overs changed the momentum of the chase.

Her four sixes proved decisive as she became the first South African woman to hit four maximums in a World Cup innings.

2) Second-Highest Score While Chasing In Women's T20 World Cup History

Kapp's unbeaten 81 also became the second-highest individual score in a successful chase in Women's T20 World Cup history. Only West Indies legend Stafanie Taylor's unbeaten 90 against New Zealand ranks higher.

The South African all-rounder paced her innings brilliantly after arriving with her side under pressure at 25/2. She remained unbeaten until the winning runs were scored, producing one of the greatest chase innings seen in the tournament.

3) South Africa Become The Most Successful Chasing Team In WT20Is

The victory marked South Africa Women's 10th successful chase of a target worth 150 runs or more in WT20 internationals. That took them past Australia Women, who had previously held the record with nine such chases.

4) India Record For Most Wickets In A Women's T20 World Cup Edition

India spinner Shree Charani continued her impressive campaign by taking 3/24 in the match. Those wickets took her tally to 10 wickets in the tournament, equalling Poonam Yadav's Indian record for the most wickets in a single Women's T20 World Cup edition.

Charani has emerged as one of India's standout performers during the competition and now shares the top spot on a list featuring several experienced Indian bowlers.

5) Third-Highest Individual Score For South Africa In Women's T20 World Cup History

Kapp's unbeaten 81 is now the third-highest score by a South African batter in Women's T20 World Cup history. Only Lizelle Lee's 101 against Thailand in 2020 and Dane van Niekerk's unbeaten 90 against Pakistan in 2014 rank above her.

6) Second-Highest Score Against India In Women's T20 World Cup History

No South African batter had ever scored more runs against India in a Women's T20 World Cup match before Kapp's unbeaten 81. The innings is now the second-highest score by any player against India in the tournament's history.

Only New Zealand's Aimee Watkins, who scored an unbeaten 89 in 2009, sits above Kapp. Her knock dismantled India's bowling attack and ensured South Africa completed one of the highest successful chases against the Women in Blue.

7) Marizanne Kapp Climbs To Second On South Africa's All-Time Women's T20 World Cup Run Charts

The match helped Kapp move to 556 career runs in Women's T20 World Cups, taking her to second place among South African batters. She overtook several former stars and now trails only captain Laura Wolvaardt.

The milestone underlines Kapp's longevity and consistency across multiple World Cup editions. Alongside her bowling achievements, she continues to build an impressive batting record on the biggest stage.

8) South Africa Register Their Highest Successful Chase In Women's T20 World Cup History

South Africa's chase of 159 became the highest successful run chase in their Women's T20 World Cup history. Their final score of 161/4 surpassed the previous best of 135/2 against Australia during the 2024 edition.

The chase was particularly impressive considering South Africa were reduced to 25/2 inside the powerplay. Kapp and Tazmin Brits rebuilt the innings before accelerating towards the target in the closing overs.

9) Kapp Joins An Elite Women's T20 World Cup All-Rounders Club

Kapp became only the fourth player in Women's T20 World Cup history to complete the double of 500 runs and 30 wickets. She joined an elite group consisting of Ellyse Perry, Deandra Dottin and Stafanie Taylor. The achievement reflects her remarkable contribution with both bat and ball across several World Cup campaigns.

10) South Africa Produce The Third-Highest Successful Chase In Women's T20 World Cup History

The chase of 161/4 now ranks as the third-highest successful run chase in Women's T20 World Cup history. Only England's chase of 165 against Australia in 2009 and West Indies' chase of 163 against New Zealand earlier in the 2026 edition stand above it.

11) New South Africa Third-Wicket Partnership Record

Tazmin Brits and Marizanne Kapp shared an unbeaten 70-run stand for the third wicket, the highest such partnership for South Africa in Women's T20 World Cup history.

The pair came together after the early loss of two wickets and stabilised the innings before launching a counterattack. Their partnership comfortably surpassed the previous record of 67 set by Kapp and Dane van Niekerk against Sri Lanka in 2018.

12) India Register Highest Women's T20I World Cup Total In Manchester

India's total of 158/7 became the highest Women's T20 World Cup score recorded at Manchester before South Africa completed the chase. The innings featured valuable contributions from Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur.

The score surpassed England's 150/3 against West Indies in 2012 and briefly looked enough to secure victory before Kapp's match-winning knock changed the outcome.

13) India Equal Record For Most Runs Scored In Powerplay Overs

India raced to 59/2 inside the first six overs, equalling their highest powerplay score in Women's T20 World Cup history. The total matched the 59/0 they recorded against the Netherlands earlier in the tournament and also equalled the 59/3 made against Australia in 2023.

14) India Record Their Fastest Team Fifty In Women's T20 World Cup History

India reached the 50-run mark in just 4.2 overs, registering their fastest team fifty in Women's T20 World Cups. The previous record was 5.1 overs against Bangladesh in 2020 and the Netherlands in 2026.

The rapid start reflected India's aggressive intent from the opening ball. Although the middle order could not fully capitalise on the platform, the record underlined the attacking approach adopted by the Indian batters throughout the match.
