India A put on some commendable performances in recent weeks, winning the Tri-Series title over Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A in Dambulla.

In the process, they went down to the verge of elimination after back-to-back defeats but bounced back strong and eventually brushed Sri Lanka A aside in the final.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was once again the star performer for the team, as they piled on 377/9 in 50 overs of the final and won by 66 runs on Sunday afternoon.

As they emerge triumphant in the series, we take a look at the top performers from the squad, who can make it to the senior India squad in ODIs.

India A players who can play for India in ODIs after tri-series win

1. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

No prizes for guessing who tops this list. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been ripping opponents to shreds over the past few months.

Following his record-shattering IPL 2026 campaign, where he won the Orange Cap, Sooryavanshi started the series with low scores, but as he has shown in the IPL, he turned up on the big occasion.

He scored 38(28) in a must-win match against Afghanistan, followed by a blistering 94(29) in the final with 10 fours and 8 sixes and was named the POTM.

Sooryavanshi finished the series with 211 runs at a strike rate of 200.95 and could be in contentions to be among the three openers in the ODI squad eventually.

He is also likely to make his T20I debut for India in their upcoming series against Ireland and England.

2. Suryansh Shedge

Mumbai and Punjab Kings' star, Suryansh Shedge showed the glimpses of his brilliance during the IPL 2026, scoring 158 runs in 7 innings, striking at 175.55.

He often bats in crunch situations, trying to rebuild after a collapse or finish strong in the death overs and has shown his temperament time and again.

In the tri series, he racked up 147 runs at a strike rate of 120.49 in 5 innings. His best of 72(66) came after coming to bat at 123/5 in the 20th over and carrying the team to 265 in 49.2 overs in the tied match during the series.

He also chipped in with the ball and if he develops his bowling further, he can be an alternative for the all-rounder spot in the senior team, where India is trying out players as Hardik Pandya backups.

3. Yash Thakur

In recent seasons, Yash Thakur has been mighty impressive in the domestic circuit for Vidarbha, while also playing a pivotal part in their maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy win, picking 19 wickets in 9 matches at an economy rate of 6.43. He has also been equally good in the T20 format and has earned his spot in the India A team.

He was instrumental in India A's win over Sri Lanka in the final, where he picked 3/45 in 7 overs as India's best bowler of the final, dismissing the top-3 of the experienced Niroshan Dickwella, Avishka Fernando and Nuwanidu Fernando.

He finished the series with 5 wickets, despite bowling only 17 overs across three games. As a good powerplay and death overs bowler, he can be an option India could look at, as they continue to experiment for the third seamer option after Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh.
