RCB entered the IPL 2026 as the defending champions, having won the championship in 2025, and they lived up to the hype by defeating the Gujarat Titans in a one-sided finale. The Rajat Patidar-led side needed 156 to win their second title, and the Red Army did just that, courtesy of a Virat Kohli special.

On a tricky surface, RCB started with a flurry of boundaries, but a stage came when they lost three quick wickets, but Kohli held one end and finished off the game in style to help the team win its second IPL title in two years.

With an emphatic IPL 2026 victory for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, here is a list of all records shattered by Rajat Patidar's men.

How RCB defeated GT to win successive IPL titles

RCB won the toss and elected to bowl first and the decision paid off as the GT openers, Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudharsan, departed cheaply. GT demoted Jos Buttler in the batting order, but it didn’t make any difference as the English batter also failed to deliver the goods.

Washington Sundar turned out to be GT’s main hero as the all-rounder smacked a gritty half-century and helped his side reach a respectable total. In reply, RCB scored a flurry of boundaries, but lost three quick wickets.

Kohli, however, stood tall and smacked a 25-ball fifty, which turned out to be his fastest in IPL history. He kept going strong and finished off the chase with a four and a six to help the side win their second IPL title. The RCB opener remained unbeaten at 75 off 42, with 9 fours and 3 sixes under his belt.
