Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made a perfect start to the IPL 2026 final after producing an excellent bowling performance to restrict Gujarat Titans to 155/8 in their 20 overs.
After winning the toss, RCB captain Rajat Patidar chose to bowl first, and the decision worked brilliantly as the defending champions never allowed the Gujarat Titans’ star-studded batting line-up to settle.
Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler all failed to make a significant impact as RCB's disciplined bowling attack kept the scoring rate under control throughout the innings.
Washington Sundar was the standout performer for Gujarat Titans, scoring a fighting half-century and helping his team reach 155/8.
With a modest target to chase, RCB's openers -Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer came out with positive intent and quickly put Gujarat Titans under pressure.
Virat Kohli Unleashes His Best Against Kagiso Rabada
The defining moment of the chase came in the fourth over when Virat Kohli launched a brutal attack on Kagiso Rabada. The former RCB captain looked in complete control and unleashed several boundaries.
Rabada's over began with a full delivery on the pads. Kohli calmly got into position and used the bowler's pace to whip the ball fine on the leg side. The timing was perfect as the ball raced away to the boundary for four runs.

On the very next ball, Virat Kohli struck again. Kagiso Rabada bowled a back-of-a-length delivery outside off stump, but Kohli used his strong bottom hand to flick it powerfully towards deep square leg.
The third delivery was the highlight of the over. Rabada pitched the ball up on the stumps, and Kohli produced a vintage flick shot. Using his trademark wristwork, he elegantly lifted the ball over mid-wicket for a magnificent six.
Kohli was not finished yet. Kagiso Rabada then tried a short-ball tactic, but it backfired badly. Kohli swivelled quickly and pulled the ball fiercely towards deep backward square leg.
