Virat Kohli once again delivered on the biggest stage, but concerns over his fitness emerged during the IPL 2026 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
The veteran batter played a crucial innings in RCB’s chase and brought up his fastest-ever IPL half-century.
However, despite his brilliant performance, Kohli was seen struggling physically during the knock. This raised questions about his availability for India's upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan.
At one stage of RCB vs GT match, Kohli appeared unable to sprint for a second run, with signs of cramping.
RCB Bowlers Put In An Excellent Bowling Performance
Earlier in the evening, RCB's decision to bowl first proved to be a masterstroke. Captain Rajat Patidar won the toss, and his bowlers responded with a disciplined performance to restrict Gujarat Titans to 155/8 in their 20 overs.

GT suffered early setbacks as skipper Shubman Gill and opener Sai Sudharsan were dismissed inside the powerplay, putting pressure on the batting unit.

Kohli Fights Through Cramps To Keep RCB On Course
Chasing 156, RCB got off to a flying start thanks to Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer. The pair attacked the Gujarat bowlers from the outset and quickly put the target under pressure.
Venkatesh Iyer played a valuable knock of 32 off just 16 balls before Gujarat found a way back into the match.

With wickets falling around him, Virat Kohli took responsibility. The RCB stalwart paced his innings brilliantly, mixing caution with aggression and ensuring that the required run rate never became a concern.

As RCB approached victory, Virat Kohli was visibly troubled by cramps. He received attention on the field and appeared uncomfortable while running between the wickets.
At the moment, it is important to mention that Virat Kohli has not suffered a serious injury.
The symptoms appeared consistent with cramps caused by dehydration, and the intense conditions of a high-pressure final.

The BCCI has officially announced the schedule for Afghanistan’s tour of India in 2026. The tour will consist of one Test match followed by a three-match ODI series.
The first ODI is scheduled to be played on June 14 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. The second ODI will take place on June 17 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, while the third and final ODI will be held on June 20 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
So, there is still time for the Afghanistan ODIs, and Virat Kohli will likely play the ODIs and will recover from the cramps.
