Virat Kohli stormed the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise to a comprehensive win in the final of the IPL 2026 season. The legendary opening batter whacked 75* runs off just 42 balls with nine cracking boundaries and three huge sixes at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium against the Gujarat Titans.

One of those sixes also notched up RCB’s winning runs at the end of the 18th over of the run chase. Notably, Kohli celebrated the occasion by making a unique gesture to invite his RCB colleagues onto the field.

Virat Kohli launched a huge no-look six off Arshad Khan at the end of the 18th over to notch up the winning runs for the RCB franchise. Shortly after the moment, the legendary unbeaten batter removed his helmet, raised his hands and invited his RCB colleagues to celebrate the historic win on the field.

As one can expect, the entire RCB dugout came rushing onto the field to join Kohli and fellow unbeaten batter Jitesh Sharma.

RCB script history by winning IPL 2026

As it happened, defending champions RCB crushed hosts Gujarat Titans by five wickets and with two overs to spare to lift the IPL 2026 title. The outcome also helped RCB to become only the third side in history to win successive IPL trophies, thus joining Mumbai Indians and CSK for the huge record.

Winning the toss and opting to field first, RCB fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up the early wickets of in-form Gujarat Titans openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan respectively. Jos Buttler and number three Nishant Sindhu got off to starts, but their fighting efforts were curtailed by Rasikh Salam and Krunal Pandya in the middle overs.

Rasikh picked up two more wickets to claim sensational figures of 3-27, while Krunal finished with tight figures of 1-23 as RCB restricted the Titans to 155-8 in 20 overs.

In response, RCB lost opener Venkatesh Iyer and number three Devdutt Padikkal inside the powerplay to Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada respectively. Virat Kohli held the innings together up until the very end, blasting 75* off just 42 balls to notch up his 68th half-century in the IPL.

A season to remember for Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli concluded the IPL 2026 season with 675 runs to his name in just 16 innings at a prolific batting average of 56.25, and also with a staggering strike rate of 165.84, his best for any single edition of the tournament.

The legendary batter also surpassed the 9,000-run mark this season, becoming the first cricketer in history to scale the landmark figure.

The innings in the final marked Kohli’s sixth score of 50 or more this season.
