Team India played ordinary cricket at Nottingham as they lost the third T20I to England by 125 runs, thus trailing 0-2 in the 5-game series. And in the aftermath of a humiliating collapse, fans on social media lost their patience and came down heavily on head coach Gautam Gambhir.
The game began when England were asked to bat first and posted 201 runs on the board with Phil Salt scoring 70 off 44 balls. However, in the chase, the Indian team lost the plot completely, and before one could blink an eye, the team had collapsed.
India lost to England by 125 runs
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, despite hitting a couple of sixes, was dismissed on 13 runs while Abhishek Sharma wasted his wicket for 10 runs. From 29/2, India collapsed to 52/5 in just 5 overs.
There was no coming back from there as England bowlers kept on pressing and the Indian batters found no way out. No batter was able to score more than 13 runs, and the visitors eventually got bowled out for just 76 runs, thus ending a 125-run humiliating defeat.
For England, Josh Tongue picked up 4 wickets while Jofra Archer also contributed with 3 wickets. Adil Rashid scalped 2 wickets while Will Jacks also claimed the crucial wicket of vice-captain Tilak Varma.
With that mega one-sided victory, England took a 2-0 lead in the 5-game series, thus eliminating the possibility of a series loss.

Fans lash out at Gautam Gambhir
Meanwhile, though the third T20I between India and England ended past midnight, fans were wide awake to watch the horror unfold at Nottingham. Their outburst about India’s poor and terrible batting performance poured out on social media.
Many fans demanded the sacking of head coach Gautam Gambhir as India are yet to win a single T20I since the World Cup 2026 victory. From whitewash against Ireland to losing back-to-back games in England, India’s T20I dominance is collapsing, and fans blame Gambhir for it.
A lot of supporters were also unhappy with the batting order as Harshit Rana and Axar Patel were sent out to bat above Shivam Dube and Tilak Varma, respectively.
India script unwanted record
Meanwhile, India’s dramatic batting collapse at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, left a deep scar on the team’s T20I history. The 76/10 is their second-lowest total ever in T20Is.
Only India's 74 all out against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2008 is lower. The Nottingham collapse also surpassed the previous second-lowest mark of 79 all out against New Zealand during the 2016 T20 World Cup in Nagpur.
Not only that, but the defeat also put the 5-game series at risk. After the first game was washed out, India lost two back-to-back T20Is against India as the hosts took a 2-0 lead. The fourth T20I scheduled at Bristol will now be a do-or-die game for the visitors.
