In a significant development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has provisionally suspended West Indies cricketer Javon Searles, along with team officials Chitranjan Rathod and Trevon Griffith, for alleged breaching of anti-corruption regulations.
The charges are related to suspected corrupt activities during the 2023/24 Bim10 tournament, which falls under the anti-corruption jurisdiction of Cricket West Indies (CWI).
It is important to mention that, according to the ICC, all three individuals have been charged with multiple violations of the CWI Anti-Corruption Code.
In addition, Trevon Griffith has also been charged under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code for a separate offence linked to international matches.
The latest charges are part of a wider corruption, earlier this year, USA international cricketer Aaron Jones was also charged with five breaches of the ICC and CWI anti-corruption codes in January.
Allegations linked to Bim10 Tournament
The charges against the trio, Javon Searles, Chitranjan Rathod, and Trevon Griffith, relate to alleged attempts to improperly influence matches in the Bim10 tournament during the 2023/24 season.
Investigators claim that the accused individuals were involved in activities aimed at manipulating aspects of matches such as the result, progress or conduct of games.
One of the key charges involves breach of Article 2.1.1 of the CWI Code, which relates to fixing or attempting to fix matches. This includes any agreement or effort to influence the outcome or events of a match in an improper manner.

The accused have also been charged with violating Article 2.1.4 of the CWI Code. This article addresses situations in which a person encourages, instructs, or helps players or support staff commit corruption-related offences.
Another charge involves a breach of Article 2.4.4 of the code, which concerns failing or refusing to cooperate with an official anti-corruption investigation.
Additional charges against Javon Searles and Trevon Griffith
Apart from the three common offences, both Javon Searles and Trevon Griffith have also been charged with breaching Article 2.4.2 of the CWI Code.
This rule requires players or officials to report any approaches or invitations to engage in corrupt activities. Failing to disclose such information is itself considered a serious violation.
Trevon Griffith faces an additional charge under Article 2.4.7 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. This charge relates to allegedly obstructing an investigation conducted by the ICC's Anti-Corruption Unit.
According to the ICC, the offence involves concealing or tampering with information that could have been important evidence in the case.
As part of the disciplinary process, the ICC has provisionally suspended all three individuals from participating in any form of cricket with immediate effect. They have been given 14 days from 11 March 2026 to respond to the charges.
Former KKR player under scrutiny
It is important to note that Javon Searles has earlier played for KKR in IPL 2018. He played four matches for the franchise, taking two wickets with an economy rate of 12.71. In first-class cricket, Searles has played 9 matches and taken 26 wickets at an economy rate of 3.61.
