BCCI chooses Shubman Gill as cricketer of the year
The year 2025 was a special one for Shubman Gill, who attained new heights as an international cricketer. The Punjab batter impressed the BCCI think tank with remarkable consistency, eventually replacing Rohit Sharma as the captain of the Indian Test and ODI teams.
Following the Indian side's crushing defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, former captain Rohit Sharma bid adieu to the longest format. Considering Virat Kohli also hung up his boots, it was a challenging task for Shubman Gill to ensure success for a team undergoing transition.
