Finally, the wait is over, and the IPL 2026 schedule is out. The 2026 IPL season arrives shortly after the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, whose final was played on March 8.

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will begin their campaign on the opening day of the tournament with a home match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Bengaluru.

After their opening clash against SRH, they will continue their home run with another high-voltage match against their long-time rivals, CSK.

Following their two home games, RCB will head out for their first away fixtures of the season. They will first face the Rajasthan Royals and then travel to take on the Mumbai Indians.

RCB will enter the new season with high confidence after achieving a historic milestone in the IPL 2025 season. The franchise finally ended a long wait for its first title and lifted the trophy after 17 years in the tournament.

Throughout the 2025 campaign, the Rajat Patidar-led team performed consistently in both batting and bowling. The team maintained strong momentum during the league stage and carried that form into the playoffs. In the final, the RCB faced PBKS and won the match by 6 runs to lift their first-ever title.

In IPL 2025, the Bengaluru-based franchise finished second on the points table with 9 wins, 4 defeats in 14 matches. Last year, Virat Kohli was the highest run-getter for RCB. The star player made 657 runs in 15 matches at an average of 54.75 and a strike-rate of 144.71.

With the ball, Josh Hazlewood took the most wickets. In 12 matches, he bagged 22 wickets at an economy rate of 8.77.

(Note: It is important to note that the matches scheduled in Bengaluru are subject to clearance from the Expert Committee constituted by the Government of Karnataka. The committee will conduct a meeting of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 13, 2026.)

The Bengaluru-based franchise approached the IPL 2026 mini auction with a clear strategy: add depth and versatility while maintaining balance in the squad. One of the biggest signings was Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, who was purchased for ₹7 crore after an intense bidding battle.

Another notable addition was New Zealand fast bowler Jacob Duffy, who was bought for ₹2 crore. The defending champions also invested in young talent to strengthen their bench. 

Players like left-arm pacer Mangesh Yadav, Jordan Cox, and young spinners Satvik Deswal and Vicky Ostwal were added to provide depth across departments. The team also added Vihaan Malhotra and Kanishk Chouhan to their squad.

To create room for these additions, RCB released several players before the auction, including all-rounder Liam Livingstone and fast bowler Lungi Ngidi. Along with them, RCB also released Swastik Chikara, Mayank Agarwal, Tim Seifert, Manoj Bhandage, Blessing Muzarabani, and Mohit Rathee.
