Speculation around whether Rohit Sharma will feature in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 continues to grow, even though there has been no official statement from the selectors or team management. Rohit Sharma has recently hinted about his ambitions, but uncertainty about his future in the 50-over format remains a topic of intense discussion.

The conversation about Rohit Sharma's future recently gained momentum after a viral prediction by astrologer Prashanth Kini, who suggested that Rohit might not be part of India’s squad for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

While such predictions are not based on cricketing analysis, the forecast quickly spread across social media.

Astrologer's viral prediction about Rohit Sharma's future

Prashanth Kini’s prediction attracted attention largely because some people believe one of his earlier forecasts had come true. Last year, the astrologer reportedly predicted that India could face fuel and natural gas supply issues after March 2026 due to disruptions in global supply chains.

Recently, tensions between Iran and the United States have intensified, impacting energy distribution networks in the Middle East.

Since India relies heavily on the region for LPG and natural gas imports, the government has taken emergency steps to secure energy supplies and prioritise gas allocation to key sectors.

Because of these developments, some fans are linking the astrologer's earlier forecast with the current situation.

As a result, his prediction about Rohit Sharma's possible absence from the 2027 World Cup has drawn even more attention.

Rohit Sharma still focused on his World Cup dream

Despite the speculation, Rohit himself has made his intentions very clear. Rohit has repeatedly said that winning the ODI World Cup remains his biggest ambition.

In a video that recently went viral, Rohit spoke emotionally about how much the 50-over World Cup means to him.

He explained that while growing up, the ODI World Cup was the biggest event in cricket. Unlike today, there was no T20 World Cup or IPL at the time, and the tournament held every four years carried big prestige.

Rohit said he wants to do everything possible to help India win the trophy and is willing to work hard to make that dream a reality.

For him, the tournament represents unfinished business, especially after India's heartbreaking defeat in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup final against Australia.

“I will definitely want to go out there and win the World Cup for my country that is something that I've always looked upon. I've grown up watching this 50-over World Cup. There was no T20 World Cup, no IPL back then and that was the pinnacle of cricket which used to happen every four years. So there was desperation, there was so much weight for that one trophy and yeah I really want that trophy so I'm gonna try and do everything in my power and capacity to work hard and get it,” said Rohit Sharma in the video.

Rohit Sharma's fitness, form and the Road to 2027

Rohit Sharma's future in ODIs has also come under scrutiny due to recent performances. During the series against New Zealand, the star player managed only 61 runs across three innings at a strike-rate of 76.25 and average of 20.33.

However, Rohit has responded strongly to criticism, particularly regarding his fitness. Over the past few months, he has worked hard on his conditioning and has shed significant weight.
