PSL Ball Controversy (Source: X)
PSL 2026 opener between Lahore Qalandars (LAH) and Hyderabad Kingsmen (HYK), which took place at Gaddafi Stadium, caught a lot of attention particularly for one reason.
The social media exploded when the white ball turned into a pink one during LAH vs HYK PSL match, leaving fans confused.
Usually, any limited-overs game gets played with a white ball. On the other hand, teams play Test cricket with red balls, while Day-Night Tests get played with Pink ball. Hence, fans left in shock to see whether the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) turned heads with a surprise rule change in PSL from this year onwards.
This is how the PSL ball controversy became the subject to discuss.
Did PCB Use Pink Ball During LAH Vs HYK Opener?
However, in real, it was not the case. The ball turned from white to pink due to the colour of Hyderabad players’ towels. In simple words, it was Hyderabad Kingsmen's kits which led ball turn pink during LAH vs HYK.
The fans gave a mixed reactions on social media once the truth was unveiled. While some of them made funny remarks, the others went towards the different direction to keep the PSL ball controversy subject relevant.
Notably, it all came to notice to the umpires, and the ball was changed soon when Lahore Qalandars were batting. Now, it will be interesting to see how the PCB will react to the incident, and take decisions on this subject.
The fact that no one had seen such coloured ball before in a limited-overs game, it hogged much more limelight than it was expected. Of course, no one saw it coming.
