Sai Sudarshan, Ryan Higgins got hit wicket out recently. PC-X
Sai Sudarshan's hit wicket became the talk of the IPL 2026 after the Gujarat Titans (GT) opener was dismissed by RCB's Jacob Duffy. The cricketing fraternity was divided into two camps during the debate over the controversial dismissal.
While chasing a tall target, the GT opener tried going berserk against the RCB bowlers. He took the charge against Duffy, hitting him for three fours. The southpaw again pulled the bowler for a boundary, but alas, he lost the grip on his bat, which crashed on the top of the stumps.
As a result, the on-field umpire gave Sudarshan out within the laws, and was included in the long list of batters to get dismissed hit wicket.
Two days after the Sai Sudarshan's hit wicket in Qualifier 1, a similar dismissal was replicated in the United Kingdom- during the ongoing T20 Blast 2026.
Ryan Higgins enacts Sai Sudarshan's hit wicket
During the T20 Blast clash between Middlesex and Surrey, Ryan Higgins was dismissed in a similar fashion to Sai Sudharsan. The Middlesex man tried to punch a delivery off Tom Curran through the left of the covers, but lost control of his blade in the follow-through.
Later, the willow went high in the air and dropped just on the top of the leg bail. Higgins got out on 13 after facing 16 runs.
Surrey's top bowling effort saw Middlesex's innings end on 143/8. Sam Curran played a captain's knock of 71 not out in the chase, which helped them get home in 18.3 overs with six wickets in hand.

GT bowed down against RCB in Qualifier 1
On Tuesday night, the defending champions played like true champions against the Titans in Dharamsala. Virat Kohli laid the platform for a brisk start before Rajat Patidar played the innings of his life.
The RCB captain smoked an unbeaten 33-ball 93, which had five fours and nine maximums on display. Patidar was well accompanied by Krunal Pandya during their 95-run stand. As a result, Bengaluru posted 254/5 - the highest ever total in IPL playoffs history.
Chasing such a total was always a daunting task, and the RCB bowlers made it worse for Gujarat. The GT kept losing wickets at regular intervals, but a courageous Rahul Tewatia (68 off 43) took them to 162/10, only to lose by 92 runs.
The Shubman Gill-led team will have another chance at the finals if they beat Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 in New Chandigarh on Friday.
The threat named Vaibhav Sooryavanshi waiting for GT
As the Titans are set to take on RR in Qualifier 2, they will face a massive challenge in the form of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The prodigy has been the talk of the season, slamming 680 runs in 15 innings at an incredible strike rate of 242.86.
So far in the season, the two teams have met twice, with each team winning a game. However, the 15-year-old has slammed the Gujarat bowlers on both occasions. Having said that, Kagiso Rabada, with his short deliveries into the body, could be the GTâs best weapon against Sooryavanshi inside the powerplay.
What does the writer thinks about Sai Sudarshan's hit wicket?
As Sai Sudarshan's hit wicket was within the laws, a batter as compact as the GT opener can also get dismissed in such a way. A batter is asked to take undue chances in the fast-paced T20 format, which resulted in such unfortunate dismissals of Sudarshan as well as Ryan Higgins.
Thus, the way to not get dismissed in T20s is only if a batter doesnât stand too deep into their crease or change the gloves as soon as their palms get sweaty.
