Vaibhav Sooryavanshi seems to be stacking up records for fun this IPL 2026 season. Apart from storming the Rajasthan Royals into the second qualifier, the blistering young opener also surpassed Chris Gayle for a huge six-hitting milestone.

Boosting his IPL stocks with each passing game, the 15-year-old has now become one of the most desirable properties among all franchises.

On Friday, May 29, former Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin responded to a satire social media post which stated that the CSK franchise was looking to trade in Sooryavanshi in exchange of its current skipper and struggling opener Ruturaj Gaikwad.

A CSK fan on social media shared a satire post on X, claiming that the CSK franchise has contacted the Rajasthan Royals.

As per the satire post, CSK asked the Royals to trade in Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in exchange of team captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.



Ravichandran Ashwin, who has played for CSK and Rajasthan Royals franchises during his playing days, responded to the post by sharing a hilarious GIF. Through the GIF, the former cricketer indicated that the Royals franchise must have “cut” CSK’s offer call almost instantly.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi takes the Orange Cap, surpasses Gayle

A couple of days ago, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi blasted 97 runs from just 29 balls against the SRH in the Eliminator match of the IPL 2026 season. The youngster launched five boundaries and 12 sixes in his innings to extend his IPL 2026 tally to 65 maximums.

In doing so, the blistering Rajasthan Royals opener surpassed Chris Gayle (59 sixes in IPL 2012) to become the leading six-hitter in a single edition of the tournament.

Sooryavanshi also stormed past Sai Sudharsan and Heinrich Klaasen to take the coveted ‘Orange Cap’ of the season. He has so far aggregated 680 runs in just 15 innings of the tournament at a prolific average of 45.33 and with an astronomical strike rate of 242.85.

Rajasthan Royals to face Gujarat Titans

Rajasthan Royals, under the leadership of Riyan Parag, crushed the SRH by 47 runs in the Eliminator. Batting first after losing the toss, the Royals mounted 243-8 from 20 overs after Vaibhav Sooryavanshi fired them to 137 in 10 overs through his electrifying start.

Dhruv Jurel at number three also blasted 50 from just 21 balls with five boundaries and three huge sixes in New Chandigarh.

Chasing 244, the SRH crumbled out for just 196 in 19.2 despite Ishan Kishan’s cracking 11-ball 33-run start. For the Royals, new ball pacemen Jofra Archer (3-58) and Nandre Burger (2-26) picked up five wickets between them while Sushant Mishra and Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with two wickets each.

The Rajasthan Royals will now face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2026 season on Friday, May 29. The match will be hosted by the Mullanpur Stadium in New Chandigarh and the winner will face defending champions RCB in the final this weekend.
