Jasprit Bumrah got the runs that matter for Team India in the second ODI of their three-match away series against England. Batting at number 10, the legendary Indian fast bowler struck a swift 20* from 13 balls to outscore even the likes of Ishan Kishan and Axar Patel at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.
Bumrah seemed to have taken a special liking to England paceman Saqib Mahmood, after arriving to the crease at 210-8 in the 41st over of the innings.
Jasprit Bumrah goes big, with the bat!
Batting at number eight, Jasprit Bumrah scored 20 unbeaten runs from just 13 balls against England in the second ODI of the series in Cardiff. The tailender struck three boundaries and a six in his brief cameo to lift India from 210-8 to a competitive 233-run total.
He even conjured a handy 23-run partnership with well-set half-centurion and top-order batter Shreyas Iyer.

Notably, Bumrah scored 18 of those 20 runs in a single Saqib Mahmood over, which happened to be the 43rd over of the Indian innings. The legendary Indian paceman launched Mahmood for three boundaries in the space of just four deliveries before finishing off the over with a huge six on his leg side.

In the process, the 32-year-old also completed 100 ODI runs in the process, achieving the feat in his comeback ODI series after a gap of nearly three years.
A look at Jasprit Bumrah batting record
One of the greatest fast bowlers of all time, Jasprit Bumrah’s batting record has never been a defining aspect of his game. The cricketer averages just 6.56 with the bat in Tests, 7.58 in ODIs and a mere 2 in T20Is to hold an overall abysmal average of 6.63 after playing 117 international innings.
However, Bumrah seems to reserve his very best batting performances for tough English conditions. Apart from his entertaining cameo against England in Cardiff on July 16, the tailender once conjured a remarkable Test-winning partnership with fellow paceman Mohammad Shami at Lord’s back in August 2021.
The following year in Birmingham, he launched 35 runs in a single over against all-time great Stuart Broad.
Jasprit Bumrah strikes first ball as India jolts England early
Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill failed to make the most of their sublime starts as they were dismissed by Will Jacks and Gus Atkinson respectively. Virat Kohli at number three minted 65 runs off 66 balls with eight boundaries, and Shreyas Iyer top-scored in the innings with his 66-run knock from 71 balls.
All remaining batters, barring tailender Jasprit Bumrah, failed to reach double-digits as India folded up for just 233 in 44 overs. For England, fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson picked up three wickets each in the innings.
Emboldened with his electrifying cameo, Bumrah also jolted England with a first-ball wicket of opening batter Ben Duckett.
