In a significant development, the BCCI announced the official schedule of India's multi-format series against Afghanistan on Monday, March 2.
The Afghanistan cricket team will tour India for four international fixtures, including one Test and three ODIs, in June this year. The tour is expected to witness the batting wizardry of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, as the duo remains active in the 50-over format after retiring from Tests and T20Is.
Talking about India, the Men in Blue are currently alive in the T20 World Cup, having qualified for the semifinal of the tournament. On the contrary, the Afghanistan cricket team failed to enter the Super 8, suffering a group-stage exit from the competition following defeats against New Zealand and South Africa.
Marquee players from both teams will participate in the IPL 2026 after the T20 World Cup. BCCI reveals Afghanistan tour of India schedule 2026
According to the schedule revealed by the BCCI, Afghanistan and India will lock horns in a one-off Test from June 6 to 10. After that, both teams will collide in three ODIs on the 14th, 17th and 20th of the month.

The only Test match between the two Asian nations will be held at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh.
On the other hand, the ODI series will kick off at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, with the Ekana Stadium and MA Chidambaram Stadium hosting the subsequent matches.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma set to be back in action
To the delight of Indian cricket fans, the ODI series against Afghanistan will witness the comeback of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to the national side. Despite bidding adieu to Tests and T20Is, Kohli and Rohit are integral members of the ODI team, led by Shubman Gill.
Although the BCCI selection committee chief Ajit Agarkar reckoned that these two players were non-committal to the 2027 World Cup, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma dismissed retirement talks by showcasing red-hot batting form.
While Rohit Sharma smashed a blistering century in the ODI series against Australia Down Under, Virat Kohli registered an incredible batting average of 151 when South Africa came to India for a three-match ODI series.
The batting maestro further went on to plunder a second-string New Zealand attack on home soil, amassing 240 runs at a strike rate of 105.26 right before the T20 World Cup.
Thus, Kohli and Rohit have exhibited commendable form and are expected to play crucial roles for the Indian team as they prepare for next year's World Cup in the African continent.
