Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s father says his son is with Rajasthan Royals teammates

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s father Sanjeev Suryavanshi has confirmed that his son decided to skip his class 10 exams this year to prioritize the upcoming IPL 2026 season. Sanjeev also added that the youngster is currently in Nagpur training alongside his Rajasthan Royals teammates.

Shrugging off the hype surrounding Vaibhav’s exams, his father added that the cricketer has now decided to appear for the same next year. According to Sanjeev, his son would not have been able to concentrate in the exams, especially with an IPL season on the horizon.

While speaking to the Mid-Day, Sanjeev Suryavanshi said “My son is practicing in Nagpur with the Rajasthan Royals IPL team members. There was a lot of hype around his exams this year, so he has decided to skip them and will appear next year. Had he appeared for the exams, he wouldn’t have been able to concentrate.”

Sanjeev also added that Vaibhav Suryavanshi was a bright student when he was a regular in school. However, his priority has now shifted to cricket. He added, “Vaibhav was good at studies when he was regular at school. He used to get above 90 per cent in all subjects, but now his priority is cricket.”

Vaibhav Suryavanshi preps for IPL 2026

As confirmed by his father himself, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is training with his Rajasthan Royals teammates in a pre-season camp. Late last year, the 14-year-old was among the players retained by the Royals franchise alongside some international heavyweights like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shimron Hetmyer and Jofra Archer.

He was acquired by the Rajasthan Royals for the IPL 2025 season last year to become the youngest cricketer ever in history to make his tournament debut.

The blistering left-handed youngster justified the faith imposed upon him by the franchise, charting 252 runs in just seven innings at a staggering strike rate of 206.55. He also notched up a 35-ball century against Gujarat Giants to record the second fastest hundred in IPL history.

Apart from enjoying a dream IPL debut in 2025, Vaibhav Suryavanshi also went on to impress one-and-all with his blistering approach in India’s Under-19 tours of Australia and England, and during the junior Asia Cup.

Furthermore, the youngster shattered some huge batting records for Bihar by smearing 190 runs in just 84 balls against Arunachal Pradesh during the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Quite recently, the soon-to-be 15-year-old blazed the India Under-19 side to World Cup glory in Zimbabwe. On the big day in Harare against England, the opening batter muscled 175 runs off just 80 balls with 15 fours and 15 huge sixes.
