On Thursday, February 19, India women locked horns against Australia for the 2nd T20I in Canberra. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side are fresh off a win in the curtain-raiser game. Meanwhile, Kaur also went past New Zealand's Suzie Bates to become most capped international player in women's cricket.
Harmanpreet Kaur is standing in her 356th international appearance, going past Bates, who featured for New Zealand in 355 matches across formats. Here is the complete list of most international appearances.

Harmanpreet Kaur And Her Rise To The Top
India captain Harmanpreet Kaur made her India debut on March 7, 2009 against Pakistan. The right-handed batter quickly made her T20I debut in the same year and quickly rose to the top.
Out of the 356 appearances, Kaur has played six Tests, 161 ODIs and 189* T20Is. Kaur took over the captaincy in 2016, but fulfilled her dream recently in November 2025 when India won the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 in Navi Mumbai.
Talking about Kaur's performance, the 36-year-old has scored over 8000 runs across formats. It has been an illustrious career filled with highs and lows for Kaur. Meanwhile, the feat in 2nd T20I against Australia is another feather in the hat for India captain.
BCCI Celebrates Kaur's Historic Moment
Before the start of the 2nd T20I, the Indian management celebrated Kaur's feat with a special huddle ceremony. Head coach Amul Muzumdar congratulated the India captain for becoming the most-capped player in the history of the league.
"Congratulations to #TeamIndia captain Harmanpreet Kaur on becoming the most-capped international player in women’s cricket," wrote BCCI Women on Twitter.

Harmanpreet Kaur Reflects On Her Achievement
During the toss for India vs Australia 2nd T20I, Kaur reflected on her achievement and stated that she will look to make the occasion extra special by scoring runs.
"It's a great achievement for me. Hopefully I will continue to work hard for the team," remarked Kaur on becoming the most capped female in internationals.
Nonetheless, talking about the ongoing match, Kaur-led India opted for a solitary change as Amanjot Kaur came in for Shreyanka Patil. Let's also look at India's playing XI for the 2nd T20I.
