Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Early Life
Growing up in Tajpur, a village with limited resources, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's passion for cricket was evident from a young age. Recognising his son's enthusiasm, Sanjiv Suryavanshi made significant sacrifices to nurture his talent, including selling a portion of their land to fund his cricketing aspirations.
At the age of nine, Vaibhav enrolled in a cricket academy in Samastipur, where he honed his skills under the guidance of former Ranji cricketer Manish Ojha.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Domestic Career
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's significant breakthrough came during the Vinoo Mankad Trophy at the age of 12 years. He emerged as the top run-scorer, showcasing his batting prowess. This performance led to his selection for Bihar's Ranji Trophy team.
Later in the same year, Sooryavanshi made his maiden appearance in the shortest format, playing for Bihar against Rajasthan at Rajkot, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Opening the innings for the side, he started smashing the bowlers from the very first delivery, with a clear mindset. Unfortunately, he couldn’t make the most of the start and scored 13 runs, but at a strike rate of 216.
Later, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made history as one of India's youngest first-class cricketers, debuting in the Ranji Trophy at 12 years and 284 days in January 2024 against Mumbai. Since then, he has consistently broken age-related records in domestic cricket, debuting in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20) and Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A) for Bihar at age 13.
On December 24, 2025, Sooryavanshi became the youngest player to score a century in List A cricket. At just 14 years and 272 days old, he achieved this record during the Vijay Hazare Trophy match for Bihar against Arunachal Pradesh, scoring 190 runs off 84 balls, which included a 36-ball century.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Youth Career
Sooryavanshi's talent transcended domestic boundaries, earning him a spot in the India Under-19 team. In a Youth Test series against Australia Under-19, he delivered a stellar performance, scoring a century off 58 balls in Chennai. This innings not only highlighted his aggressive batting style but also cemented his reputation as a rising star.
The Bihar prodigy was named in India’s squad for the 2024 ACC under-19 Asia Cup, where he scored 76 off 46 against the UAE. Later on, the 14-year-old secured a spot in India’s team for the Asia Cup Rising Stars (T20). Sooryavanshi once again announced his arrival with an astonishing 144 runs off just 42 balls.
Moreover, in the final of the 2026 ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup, Vaibhav scored 175 runs off just 80 balls against England, smashing 15 fours and 15 sixes in a record-breaking knock.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi IPL
The pinnacle of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's burgeoning career came at the IPL 2025 auction, where he became the youngest player ever signed to the league. The Rajasthan Royals secured his services for INR 1.10 crore.
In his maiden IPL season, the 14-year-old etched his name in the record books with a blistering 38-ball 101 in the 47th game of the IPL 2025. The 35-ball century by the Rajasthan Royals opener became the second-fastest in the tournament's history after Chris Gayle's 30-ball blitz for RCB against Pune Warriors India in 2013.
With this, at 14 years & 32 days, Sooryavanshi is the youngest-ever recorded T20 centurion, breaking Vijay Zol's mark (18y 118d) set in 2018.
Moreover, Sooryavanshi ended the tournament with highly impressive numbers. Playing seven games in his maiden IPL season, the teenager piled up 252 runs at a strike rate of 206.55.
