Shadab Khan seems to be finding himself at the center of some disparaging comments ever since he made controversial remarks against former Pakistani cricketers and legends. Earlier this week, the senior all-rounder had hit back at ex-Pakistan cricketers after facing criticism for the humiliating defeat against Team India at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Shadab Khan bragged about the current Pakistani team defeating India at the 2021 T20 World Cup, and stated that none of the nation’s former cricketers managed to upstage India in any World Cup game during their careers.

Mohammad Amir and Ahmed Shehzad have now hit back strongly, slamming Shadab Khan for his remarks and accusing him of disrespecting Pakistan’s former greats.

Mohammad Amir says India used to “fear Pakistan”

Responding to active Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan, premier fast bowler Mohammad Amir stated that the Indian team used to “fear Pakistan” in the 1990s. Comparing the past scenario with the present rivalry, Amir further stated that the current Indian team does not even celebrate its wins over Pakistan in World Cup matches.

While speaking on a Pakistani sports show ‘Haarna Mana Hai’, Mohammad Amir said “There is a difference between the 1990s team and today’s team. Back then, India used to fear us. Today, they don’t even take Pakistan seriously as they were not even celebrating the wickets.”

Ahmed Shehzad justifies Pakistan criticism, slams Shadab Khan

Out-of-favor Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad justified the criticism hurled towards the present Pakistan team. He said that during the 1990s and early 2000s, an India vs Pakistan World Cup match was held only once in four years since the T20I format did not exist at the time.

Defending Pakistan’s past defeats, Shehzad added that many players would change in the squad with every passing World Cup but such is not the case with today’s team. The cricketer highlighted that it is pretty much the same Pakistani group that has been losing to India for many years now, in both ODI and T20I World Cups.

Ahmed Shehzad stated “With T20 World Cups in the schedule, India and Pakistan face each other more frequently in ICC events. Someone should tell Shadab Khan that no single group has lost as many World Cup matches to India as this current lot. If the same group of people keeps losing to India every single time, then any form criticism is valid.”

Pakistan extends losing streak to India

Compatible to Ahmed Shehzad’s claims, the current Pakistan team has now lost four matches in a row to India in World Cup events. Overall, the ‘Men in Green’ have lost nine successive matches to India since winning an Asia Cup match back in 2022.

Three of those defeats occurred within the space of a month back in mid-2025 during the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE.

In their most-recent faceoff during the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Team India batted first and mounted 175-7 in 20 overs. Opening batter Ishan Kishan bludgeoned a fiery 77 from just 40 balls after the early loss of Abhishek Sharma.

In response, a star-studded Pakistan batting line-up folded up just 114 in 18 overs to fall 61 runs short of their target.
