Bangladesh cricket hit by mass resignations [Source: AP]
Stability in cricket administration often operates quietly in the background, rarely drawing attention unless the cracks begin to surface. Those fissures have now widened dramatically in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), as a fresh wave of resignations has plunged the nation’s cricket board into deep uncertainty.
On Saturday, April 4, as many as four board directors resigned from their posts, doing so mere days after Yasir Mohammed and Faysal Ashique made their respective exits from the administration.
BCB hit by six resignations within a week
The BCB has been rocked by another wave of resignations of its directors. On April 4, four board directors resigned from their respective posts following a board meeting. The directors were Saniyan Taneem, Mehrab Alam, Faiazur Rahman and Manjurul Alam.

The four confirmed their exits just two days after Yasir Mohammed and Faysal Ashique made their resignations from the BCB. With six resignations in the BCB in such a short span, the developments underline a growing sense of unrest and internal discord within the board, raising serious questions over the stability and continuity of its current administration.
It is worth noting that late last month, BCB director Amzad Hossain also resigned in protest after he was removed from his position as the chairman of the board’s media committee.
Moreover, back in January this year, Ishtiaque Sadeque also resigned as a BCB director and cited “personal reasons” behind his decision. This takes the tally to eight resignations in the BCB this year alone, highlighting the frequency of exits from the board in a relatively brief period.
BCB President Aminul Islam says he “will be the last person to go”
BCB president Aminul Islam did not attend the press conference after the board meeting in a bid to avoid scrutiny from the media, amid mounting criticism over his tenure and the board’s recent turmoil.
While speaking on Jamuna TV, Aminul said that he will continue to serve Bangladesh cricket with the current “dedicated” BCB team, and he will be the “last person” to make his exit from the administration.
He said “I will be there holding a chair as I will be the last person to go till the last day. Our team (board of directors) are good and they are dedicated and honest so I want to work with this team and serve Bangladesh cricket.”
BCB under scrutiny by investigation committee
Aminul Islam was appointed as BCB President back in May 2025 last year. He was a part of a controversial board election which is currently under scrutiny by an investigation committee of National Sports Council (NSC).
Notably, the BCB also falls under the direct jurisdiction of the NSC. Last month, the Bangladesh government launched an investigation into the elections that resulted in Aminul Islam becoming the board’s president.
With a possible conflict brewing between the BCB and the Bangladesh government, the board even threatened to take the matter directly to the ICC at one stage.
