The Mumbai Indians have witnessed a great downfall in the ongoing IPL 2026, as the team languishes at the bottom of the table, and would need to win all their remaining fixtures to have a slim chance of qualifying for the playoffs.

The Mumbai Indians have faced several injuries during their IPL 2026 season. Star player Rohit Sharma has missed many games, and captain Hardik Pandya is also dealing with back problems.

With Hardik Pandya likely to be ruled out of the IPL 2026 match against RCB, the franchise has been hit with another massive blow, with another experienced player reportedly sidelined for the marquee clash.

Suryakumar Yadav ruled out vs RCB

In a significant development and a massive blow to MI’s playoff aspirations, their experienced middle-order batter, Suryakumar Yadav, is likely to be ruled out of the IPL 2026 clash vs RCB. The development was reported by RevSportz journalist Rohit Juglan, and it comes as a massive dent to MI.

The exact reason for Suryakumar’s exclusion has yet to be revealed, but as per reports, SKY is set to become a father. The report further added that Hardik Pandya, the regular skipper could also miss the RCB match, as the all-rounder is yet to recover.

In the further developments related to the MI squad, TOI journalist Sahil Malhotra has further reported that not only Suryakumar, but some foreign players and two prominent Indian players haven't travelled with the team as well.

MI’s next match is on Sunday against RCB, and perhaps the players have been given a break by their franchise ahead of the crucial contest.

Suryakumar's poor IPL 2026 at a glance

Ever since his IPL debut, Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian T20I captain, has been a consistent run-scorer, and that too, at a high strike rate.

His numbers massively improved after joining the Mumbai Indians, and last season, SKY was MI’s MVP in the tournament. However, this season, things have been different, as the veteran is yet to play a match-winning knock.

The middle-order player has played 10 IPL matches this season and has only accumulated 195 runs, with an average of 19.5, and a strike rate of 145. In fact, this is his lowest strike rate in any IPL season since the 2022 campaign, and the fans have been quick to criticise him.

Constant chopping and changing in his batting position has not helped his cause as the Mumbai Indians batter is yet to create any major impact. However, the franchise will feel his absence against RCB, as the right-handed player possesses a strong batting record against them.

  • All-rounder, Mitch Santner, hurt his shoulder in an IPL contest, and the Kiwi star was ruled out of the IPL 2026 as he underwent surgery.
  • Hardik Pandya injured his back in the match against CSK, and he got ruled out of the LSG match, and is unlikely to play against RCB as well.
  • Suryakumar Yadav will also miss the next IPL game, but unlike the other three on the list, he has not been injured.
