MI Fans Bash Suryakumar Yadav [Source: X]
In a disappointing show, Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed cheaply in the 24th game of the IPL 2026 season between the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings. As a result, he faced heavy trolling on social media.
Mumbai were asked to bat first after losing the toss at the Wankhede Stadium. While the pitch was decent to bat on, the men in blue completely made a mess of the powerplay.
Suryakumar Yadav dismissed for a golden duck
Arshdeep Singh, who had been struggling so far in the season, suddenly found his rhythm back. He sent back Ryan Rickelton on just 2 for 8 balls in the third over.
With just 12 runs on the board, senior batter Suryakumar Yadav walked out to bat. He had to anchor the innings and maximise the powerplay at the same time, but SKY ended up doing exactly the opposite of what was expected from him.
On the very first delivery that he faced, Suryakumar went for an attacking drive to Arshdeep’s outswinger. But because the ball moved late, SKY didn’t fully account for the swing and ended up getting an outside edge instead of clean contact.
That edge carried straight to the short third man, where Yuzvendra Chahal reacted quickly and took a neat catch. And with that, Suryakumar Yadav had to walk back to the dressing room on a golden duck, and the Mumbai Indians suddenly appeared in a soup.
Suryakumar now has the third most ducks (10) in the IPL for the Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma still holds the record of most ducks for MI (16).

Fans troll Suryakumar Yadav heavily
Meanwhile, the IPL 2026 season is getting worse and worse for Suryakumar Yadav. He has scored just 106 runs in 5 innings at a 21.20 average. As someone who is the captain of India’s T20I team, fans certainly expected Yadav to do better.
However, his consistent failures led to public outrage. Disappointed Mumbai Indians fans lashed out at him on social media, calling him names and making funny memes about his downfall.
Apart from MI fans, many neutral cricket fans were also concerned since Suryakumar’s form has been a persistent issue for a long while now.
Naman Dhir picks up the pace
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians are off to a mixed start at 48/2 in 6 overs after the Punjab Kings chose to bowl first at Wankhede.
The big early blow came from Arshdeep Singh, who has been outstanding with the new ball.

He dismissed both Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav in the same over. However, MI have recovered well thanks to Naman Dhir, who is counter-attacking aggressively with 33 off 17 balls.
Mumbai Indians are playing without Rohit Sharma today as the latter is dealing with a hamstring injury.
