Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan is threatening to snatch away the number one T20I ranking of Indian youngster Abhishek Sharma. As per the updated ICC charts on Wednesday, February 25, Farhan gained two rungs to jump to number three spot with 810 rating points. The blistering opener is also currently leading the run-scoring race of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with 283 runs in just five innings at a prolific average of 70.75.
Number one ranked Abhishek Sharma, on the other hand, has registered three ducks in the tournament and listed just 15 runs across four innings for Team India.
Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra head-butts Aneesh in Ranji final
Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra was involved in a heated altercation with Karnataka youngster KV Aneesh on Day 2 of their Ranji Trophy 2025-26 final match. Dogra even ‘head-butted’ young Aneesh, who was standing at short fine leg during the 101st over at the time of the incident.
As per sources close to the J&K camp, it was KV Aneesh who initiated the charge by unnecessarily provoking the rival skipper with expletives. In any case, the senior batter has been penalized 50 percent of his match fees by the BCCI for his misconduct.

Salman Agha likely to lose PAK captaincy, Shadab considered replacement
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly aiming to remove T20I skipper Salman Agha from his position. As reported by Revsportz, the star all-rounder is “walking on a tightrope”, and might lose his captaincy credentials if Pakistan fails to make it to the semifinal of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The report further stated that the board is considering to replace the cricketer with fellow spin-bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan as new Pakistan T20I captain.
Bangladesh to tour Australia in August this year
The Bangladesh cricket team is scheduled to tour Australia in August later this year. The trip will mark Bangladesh’s first-ever tour ‘Down Under’ after a gap of over 20 years. Cricket Australia confirmed Australia’s two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home, which is intended to launch Australia’s 2026-27 home season.
The first Test of the series will be played between August 13 and August 17 in Darwin, and the series decider will be hosted by Mackay between August 22 and August 26.
Mitchell Santner and Cole McConchie punish Sri Lanka with record stand
New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner led his side from the front with the bat against Sri Lanka in match number 46 of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Batting first, the ‘Black Caps’ charted a competitive 168-7 in 20 overs despite slipping to 84-6 in 12.1 overs at one stage.
Captain Santner bludgeoned 47 off just 26, and number eight Cole McConchie made 31* from 23 as the two cricketers shared 84 runs for the seventh wicket, thus marking the highest seventh-wicket stand in T20 World Cup history.
