A major controversy broke out between Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra and Karnataka fielder KV Aneesh on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 final match in Hubballi. Dogra was subsequently penalised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for his on-field misconduct.

Towards the fag end of Day 2, an explosive report has finally unveiled what really transpired on the field that triggered a brawling episode between the two players.

KV Aneesh triggered fight, as per J&K camp

Sources close to the Jammu and Kashmir camp has reportedly revealed that it was Karnataka’s KV Aneesh who initiated the argument by unnecessarily provoking the rival skipper. As reported by an Indian journalist on X, the J&K camp stated that Aneesh even used expletives and insulted Paras Dogra despite his experienced stature in domestic cricket.

The sources said, “Kahan pe 10 hazar run kiye hain? Bat pakadna nahi aata…” (How did you score 10,000 runs? You don’t even know how to hold a bat)

BCCI slaps Parag Dogra with hefty penalty

Following the alleged remarks supposedly said by Karnataka’s KV Aneesh, Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra got into an argument with the youngster. Aneesh, who was fielding at silly point at the time with a helmet on, had Dogra seemingly screaming onto his face.

The senior batter even head-butted the 24-year-old before match officials intervened and warned captains of both sides.

After the altercation, the BCCI penalized the Jammu and Kashmir captain with 50 percent of his match fees for losing his temper on the field and engaging in a physical altercation.

Notably, the ugly incident occurred in the 101st over of the J&K innings early on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 final match at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground.

Despite the BCCI penalty, Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra still strode off the field with quiet satisfaction, his side firmly in command at the end of Day 2. Resuming the day at 284-2 in 87 overs, his team further strengthened its grip in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 final by reaching 527-6 in 156 overs.

Senior man Dogra himself composed 70 runs off 166 balls with eight elegant boundaries. As many as five other batters in his team crossed the 50-run mark, with number three Shubham Pundir making 121 off 247 balls with 12 cracking boundaries and two huge sixes.

Opening batter Yawer Hassan composed 88 off 150, in-form Abdul Samad listed a fiery 61 and wicketkeeper-batter Kanhaiya Wadhawan made 70 runs in 109 balls. Sahil Lotra reached an unbeaten 57* by stumps and will resume the Jammu and Kashmir innings on Day 3 alongside Abid Mushtaq (20*).

For Karnataka, senior fast bowler Prasidh Krishna picked up three of the six fallen wickets at an expense of 90 from his 29 overs. His teammates Vidyadhar Patil (1-104), Shreyas Gopal (1-130) and Shikhar Shetty (1-112) also chipped in with a wicket each.
