Black Magic Done On Babar Azam; Indians Accused

Babar Azam has become a victim of ‘black magic’ by Indian pandits, at least as per a certain Pakistan journalist. Following the trail of cricketer’s repeated struggles in international cricket for Pakistan, the journalist in question made the absurd claim during a recent interview while citing the pages of an Imran Khan book.

It is worth noting that Babar is currently undergoing one of the worst phases of his T20I career, and recently spent over two years without scoring an international century for Pakistan in any format.

Indian pandits accused of hampering Babar Azam’s form

Rauf Klasra, a senior Pakistan journalist, recently wondered if Indian priests had performed some sort of ‘black magic’ on their struggling all-format batter Babar Azam. The journalist recalled an example of former Pakistan batter Zaheer Abbas and how he scored three centuries in a single home series against India back in the 1970s.

However, the journalist stated that Abbas struggled to score on Pakistan’s recent trip to India. His struggles were later believed to be the result of a ‘black magic’ performed by pandits in India, as claimed by Pakistan’s World Cup winning captain Imran Khan in his book.

While speaking on Neo TV, Rauf Klasra speculated if a similar “spell” has been casted on Babar Azam as well, when the modern-day legend last toured India during the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup a couple of years ago.

Incidentally, the initial phase of the 2023 World Cup also nearly coincided with the tipping phase of Babar’s two-year century-drought for Pakistan in international cricket. Regardless of the coincidence, the claims remain utterly absurd and devoid of any factual or rational basis.

Babar Azam misfires, Pakistan stumble in T20 World Cup 2026

Babar Azam’s repeated misfortunes seem to be impacting Pakistan’s prospects in the ongoing 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup as well. On a trail of an underwhelming BBL 2025-26 season in Australia, the legendary batter has managed to list just 91 runs in four innings of the showpiece event in India at a below par strike rate of 112.34.

The 31-year-old was even demoted down the batting order during Pakistan’s must-win Group A match of the tournament against Namibia earlier this month.

In the match against England on February 24, Babar Azam aggregated just 25 runs from 24 balls as the ‘Men in Green’ charted 164-9 in 20 overs. Riding on Harry Brook’s electrifying 51-ball ton, England went on to win the match by two wickets and consigned Pakistan to the brink of a certain elimination before the semifinals.

Pakistan to face Sri Lanka in another must-win affair

With a place in the semifinals up for grabs, Pakistan will now face hosts Sri Lanka in their final Super 8 match of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The match will be hosted by the Pallekele Stadium in Pallekele and the action will commence from 7:00 PM IST onwards on Saturday, February 28.

At the moment, the ‘Men in Green’ are placed third on the Group 2 points table with a no-result and a big defeat from two matches. A win over Sri Lanka at this stage of the tournament will pull them back into the semifinals reckoning.
