RCB won a nerve-wracking affair against MI on Sunday evening at the Wankhede Stadium. As two powerhouses met in Mumbai, it was also a face-off between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
The reigning champions defeated the five-time champions for the third successive time, with Kohli hitting his 65th half-century in the IPL. Although the former RCB captain struggled on the field, he scored 50 and shared an episode with Rohit Sharma during the first innings.
Batting first, RCB posted 240/4 to slam the second-highest total of the IPL 2026. Phil Salt (78 off 36) and Kohli laid the foundation with the 120-run first-wicket partnership.
Later, Rajat Patidar showcased his hyper-aggressive self, hitting the fastest ever fifty by a RCB batter. Tim David also had some time in the middle as he scored 20* off 10 balls.
Rohit Sharma warns Virat Kohli in a wholesome moment
As Salt and Virat Kohli shared a tall opening stand of 120 runs, the latter had a heart-warming incident with the former MI skipper, Rohit Sharma.
The MI opener, who has worked tremendously worked on his fitness, is not playing as an Impact Player anymore. While fielding at covers to Hardik Pandya, Rohit looked sharp as he stopped a shot from Virat Kohli.
Later, he warned the RCB batter to stay in his crease. Kohli, in his cheeky response, asked his MI counterpart to run him out. As the video circulated on social media, fans have started to enjoy the wholesome moment between two superstars.

Meanwhile, the two icons had another moment on Sunday, when Sharma called Kohli even before the first ball was bowled, and the two shared a small joke between them.

Tragedies around Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli
Despite scoring a half-century, Virat Kohli struggled with his timing and later injured his ankle during his 53-run knock vs MI. Notably, he was seen limping while rotating the strike. As a result, he didn't come out to the field in the second innings.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma pulled his hamstring while batting after fielding for the entire first innings. He could only face 13 balls before retiring hurt, though he smoked two beautiful boundaries and an audacious maximum in his 19-run blitz.
As of yet, there is no major update on the respective injuries of the two Indian star batters.
How MI lost to RCB in Mumbai?
After Bengaluru posted a gigantic total on the board, the bowlers didn't have it that easy in the defence. Before getting injured, Rohit Sharma gave a strong start to MI, alongside Ryan Rickelton. However, a single Suyash Sharma over had two MI wickets - the Proteas opener and Tilak Varma.
Skipper Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav tried to keep MI in the hunt, but they failed while doing the both - stabilising the innings and keeping a check on run-rate - at once.
Krunal Pandya, with his one for 26 in four overs, almost turned the tide in RCB's favour, before Sherfane Rutherford gave Mumbai a little hope. But Mumbai lost the game by 18 runs, facing their third successive loss of the season.
