Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant suffered a significant injury scare during the IPL 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 15, raising concerns over his availability for the next fixture.
Pant was struck on his left elbow by a sharp delivery from Josh Hazlewood, forcing the wicketkeeper-batter to leave the field and miss a large part of the match.
Providing an update, LSG bowling coach Bharat Arun addressed the situation and gave an important update on Rishabh Pant’s availability for the next match.
How Was Rishabh Pant Injured?
Pant suffered a painful left elbow injury during the RCB vs LSG clash after missing a pull shot off a short delivery from Josh Hazlewood, with the ball striking his bony elbow directly.
The impact forced Pant to leave the field immediately in visible discomfort, as he appeared close to tears. Team physios rushed onto the ground and attended to him promptly.
Despite the setback, Pant showed resilience by returning to bat in the 16th over, although he was dismissed shortly after.
LSG Coach Shares Final Verdict On Pant’s Participation In IPL 2026
However, in a positive development for the Lucknow Super Giants camp, Pant has resumed training with the squad. Initial assessments suggest that the injury is likely a bruise rather than a serious issue like a fracture, easing fears ahead of their upcoming fixtures.
Bharat Arun confirmed that skipper Rishabh Pant is fit and available for selection for their upcoming match against the Punjab Kings.
“He is perfectly alright, fit enough to play tomorrow,” Arun shared to the media.
Arun assured that Pant has recovered well from his elbow injury and is set to return to action, bringing much-needed relief to the LSG camp.

Pant Needs A Comeback With The Bat
Despite returning to lead the side, Rishabh Pant has endured a below-par run with the bat in IPL 2026 so far. In five matches, the LSG skipper has scored at an average of 26.00 with a strike rate of 122.35, numbers that fall short of his usual high standards.
His only significant contribution came against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he played a steady knock of 51 off 68 balls to guide the Lucknow Super Giants to a five-wicket win on April 5. Apart from that innings, Pant has struggled for consistency, registering scores of 7, 10, 18, and 1 in his other outings.
However, Pant’s reputation as a match-winner keeps the faith intact within the camp. Known for his fearless strokeplay and unorthodox approach, he has previously delivered historic performances, most notably during the 2018 season with the Delhi Capitals.
That year, Pant amassed 684 runs at an average of 52.61 and a remarkable strike rate of 173.60, underlining his ability to dominate bowling attacks.
