In a hilarious encounter, RCB mascot Mr Nags trolled Virat Kohli by calling him an ‘overseas player.’ The tag left Kohli in splits, but he responded back strongly in what turned out to be a viral moment.
Kohli is playing his 19th IPL season with RCB this year. His long wait for a title ended last year when skipper Rajat Patidar led the franchise to glory by beating Punjab Kings in the finals.
Virat Kohli given ‘overseas player’ tag by RCB
Meanwhile, as the IPL 2026 season gets underway, Virat Kohli sat down for a one-on-one chat with RCB mascot Mr Nags. The latter is known for his witty side, and this time, he chose to troll Kohli.
During the interview, Mr Nags suggested that RCB are playing 5 overseas players in IPL 2026, implying Kohli himself has become “foreign” because of his move to London.
Since the birth of his son, Akaay, Virat Kohli has been spending a lot of time in London with Anushka Sharma and two kids. That’s where the joke started.
That being said, when asked about it by Nags, Kohli was caught off guard and started laughing. He hit back, saying, “Why are you asking me? Ask the overseas players. I’m not an overseas player.”

That being said, after a long wait of 18 years, Virat Kohli finally touched the prized trophy of the IPL in 2025 as RCB beat PBKS in the finals. Reacting to the historic moment, Kohli described it as a huge relief.
"I had heard of this statement or this saying, four years, monkey off the back. That night I really felt what it means. Everything became light," Kohli said on Mr Nags interview.
He also shared a deeper thought about success, saying victory is the result of long-term hard work and sacrifice. Winning validates the effort players put in over years, and it also motivates them to keep improving.
“Victory is the accumulation of hard work, all the sacrifices you’ve made, to be committed to the sport. It all comes together as a form of assurance, a reward, to know that you haven’t wasted your time. A lot of people learn from losses, but a lot of people can get very disheartened as well. So when you win after a lot of hard work, it makes you feel a sense of justice to the work that you put in, and also gives you motivation to work harder," he added.

During that innings, Kohli became the Asian player with most T20 runs, surpassing Shoaib Malik. He also became the first player with 4000+ IPL runs in chases.
Apart from Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal also delivered a mastercalss, scoring 61 off 26 balls, including 7 fours and 4 sixes. Rajat Patidar, the captain, contributed with a quick 31 off 12 balls to ensure RCB get to the target as soon as possible.
