Bangladesh is scheduled to host Pakistan in a two-game Test series beginning on May 8. Interestingly, on the eve of the red-ball series, the two boards’ presidents are expected to have a key meet-up.
The PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, has been busy lately with the PSL 2026 season, which faced serious challenges due to the West Asia conflict. Now, his focus shifts to strengthening cricketing ties with other nations.
Mohsin Naqvi to attend BAN vs PAK Test
Meanwhile, Bangladesh and Pakistan are all set to compete in the first Test of the two-game series on May 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. According to reports, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi is expected to attend the game in person.
Naqvi will reportedly arrive in Dhaka with a delegation of around 10 to 12 PCB officials. While no formal agenda has been publicly announced, the PCB chief is likely to meet Tamim Iqbal, who currently heads the BCB.
Tamim was recently elected as the BCB president, and Mohsin Naqvi may want to strengthen ties with him that will serve both Pakistan and Bangladesh cricket in the future.
Despite their on-field rivalry, the two nations have always been cordial when it comes to administration. Hence, Mohsin Naqvi-Tamim Iqbal's meeting carries deeper administrative significance.

When PCB backed Bangladesh’s stand against India
This meeting between Mohsin Naqvi and Tamim Iqbal comes just months after Pakistan publicly backed Bangladesh after they refused to travel to India for the T20 World Cup 2026.
After Mustafizur Rahman was disallowed by the BCCI to participate in the IPL due to political reasons, Bangladesh said their players felt unsafe playing in India.
Despite multiple attempts to pacify the situation, the ICC eventually booted Bangladesh out of the tournament and replaced them with Scotland.
However, Pakistan backed Bangladesh’s stand and said the Tigers were treated unfairly. PCB added that the ICC was biased and should have resolved Bangladesh’s issues rather than ousting them.
Pakistan are favourites ahead of the first Test vs Bangladesh
That being said, Pakistan will tour Bangladesh for a 2-game Test series. The first Test will be held at Mirpur, where spin tends to dominate. Hence, Pakistan will back themselves to overpower the host.
The duo of Sajid Khan and Noman Ali have been extremely successful in the last couple of years. They single-handedly picked 90% of the opposition wickets on many occasions.
However, Bangladesh cannot be undermined either due to their familiarity with home conditions. They will bank on Mehidy Hasan and Nahid Rana to perform at their absolute best.
Overall, Pakistan will hope to take revenge by beating Bangladesh at their home turn after the Tigers earlier claimed a historic 2-0 Test series sweep in Rawalpindi.
