CSK Out Of The Top 3 As Latest Rankings Surface Of IPL Teams' Net Worth

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is unarguably the richest franchise cricket league in the world. However, when it comes to teams’ net worth, five-time IPL champions CSK are left behind.

Recently, Stockgo ranked all 10 franchises based on their business value and brand strength. They ranked the teams according to their overall net worth, but Chennai failed to find a spot in the top three.

CSK loses brand value, falls behind RCB

In the latest rankings released by Stockgo, IPL 2025 champions RCB have the highest net worth at ₹16,706 crore, which shows how massive their commercial pull has become.

Even without winning multiple IPL titles, RCB have one of the biggest fanbases globally, huge digital engagement, strong sponsorship appeal and massive star power, largely driven for years by Virat Kohli.

Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians are ranked second and third with ₹15,300 crores and ₹13,500 crores respectively.

However, five-time IPL champions CSK dropped down to the fourth spot with a ₹11,300 crore net worth. CSK have historically been one of the IPL’s most dominant and marketable teams because of multiple IPL titles, a loyal fanbase and a long association with MS Dhoni.

However, since Dhoni quit captaincy a couple of years ago, CSK’s brand value has taken a huge hit. Faces like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Dewald Brevis have been unable to get that same market pull without MS Dhoni.

This year, Sanju Samson has joined the team. Hence, it will be interesting to see if CSK’s net worth sees a rise going forward.

CSK alive in the playoff race without MS Dhoni

That being said, in IPL 2026, CSK lost their three initial games to drop to the bottom of the table. However, the team quickly regrouped and won a couple of games to climb up the order.

Now, with 5 wins and 5 losses in 10 games, CSK are ranked sixth on the points table with a positive net run rate. This is significant as the Super Kings are playing without their star player, MS Dhoni.

Dhoni has been nursing a calf injury since the beginning of the season and is yet to feature in a single game. Not only that, but CSK have refrained from providing a clear timeline of his return, which is further adding to the fans’ confusion.

CSK’s qualification scenario explained

That being said, CSK now have 4 more games to play in this IPL 2026 season. The last victory against DC has kept them firmly in contention for the playoffs, especially after recovering from a poor start to the season.

The safest qualification mark in a 10-team IPL is generally 16 points, which almost guarantees qualification, or 14 points where odds depend heavily on net run rate and other results.

So the equation is simple for CSK. They have to win at least 3 of their remaining 4 matches. That would take them to the safer qualification zone without depending too much on other teams.
