The Pakistan Super League has reached the final stage, with just one game remaining. The Peshawar Zalmi will take on the Hyderabad Kingsmen in the grand finale as the league will witness a riveting PSL 2026 battle on Sunday evening.

The Kingsmen had no chance to reach the PSL finals after losing four games on a trot, but the franchise witnessed a change in fortunes, as they went on a winning run, and defeated the Multan Sultans and Islamabad United back-to-back to set a date with the Zalmi’s.

One of the heroes of the Hyderabad Kingsmen has been Mohammad Ali, the 33-year-old pacer. He has bagged 17 wickets in the tournament, and is the third highest wicket-taker in the competition.

Mohammad Ali fined by PCB after breach of code of conduct

However, in the Eliminator 2 against the Islamabad United side, Mohammad Ali breached PSL’s Code of Conduct and was fined by the governing body.

The incident happened in the 16th over of the Islamabad United batting, when the Hyderabad pacer was involved in a verbal exchange with Mark Chapman, the opposition batter. The duo was involved in a war of words, with Mohammad Ali leading the charge.

The pacer breached Article 2.21 of the PSL Code of Conduct, as he brought the game into disrepute. Ali admitted to the charges and was also fined 10 percent of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the Code of Conduct.

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Shahid Saikat, who had to intervene to stop the argument between the two players.

Mohammad Ali credits Rahul Dravid for Hyderabad's PSL success

Despite creating a controversy in the PSL Eliminator 2, the Hyderabad Kingsmen pacer played a pivotal part in the team’s success after an initial dry run.

After the game ended against the Islamabad United, the 33-year-old pacer referred to Rahul Dravid’s famous quote when asked about how the team reached the finale.

The PSL host asked Mohammad Ali how the Hyderabad side pulled off an incredible heist to reach the finals, and the fast bowler stated: “As great Rahul Dravid says - Luck always comes to those who really work hard.”

The newly formed PSL franchise certainly had the luck on its side as it lost its first four matches and had to win almost all its remaining PSL games to qualify for the playoffs. As it happened, Hyderabad rode some luck, and courtesy of a better net run-rate as compared to the other sides, they reached the playoffs.

Mohammad Ali’s contribution in Hyderabad’s PSL success

For starters, Mohammad Ali has been one of the most consistent performers for the Hyderabad side in the PSL 2026. In the flat conditions of Pakistan, the fast bowler was pivotal as he grabbed 17 important wickets, and finished as the joint second-highest wicket-taker.

He and Shadab Khan, scalped 17 wickets each, while Sufiyan Muqeem, the mystery spinner, grabbed 21 wickets. The Hyderabad pacer still has a chance to join Muqeem at the top of the charts, provided he takes 4 in the finale, and Muqeem goes wicketless.
