A great turner of the ball, Shadab Khan is one of the most promising cricketers from Pakistan. The all-rounder has the ability to bowl wrong ’un and is also a handy middle-order batsman.
He hails from Pakistan, home to the legends like Imran Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq. He joined the National Cricket Academy in Lahore and continued to grow under the leadership of Abdul Qadir and Mushtaq Ahmed.
Shadab Khan T20I Career
Shadab Khan earned a maiden international call-up in 2017 in a T20I match against the West Indies. He made an immediate impact with the ball, as the leg spinner took 3 wickets for 7 runs on debut.
A utility all-round player, Shadab helped Pakistan clean-sweep Australia 3-0 in October 2018.
As the all-rounder grew, he became a vital cog of Pakistan’s T20I side. He was a part of the squad that beat India during the 2021 T20 World Cup and went on to play the semifinal. In the subsequent T20 World Cup, as Pakistan played the final, the all-rounder played the knock of his life, 52 off 22, against South Africa.
On 27 March 2023, he took his 100th T20I wicket against Afghanistan and became the first male cricketer from Pakistan to take 100 wickets in T20Is. He was also a part of Pakistan’s squad for the 2024 and 2026 T20 World Cups.
Shadab Khan ODI Career
After impressing in the shortest format, Shadab Khan made his ODI debut for Pakistan against the West Indies on 7th April 2017 at Providence Stadium.
Shadab soon became a prominent part of Pakistan’s white-ball squads. He was also a part of the Champions Trophy-winning team in 2017.
In April 2019, Khan was added to Pakistan's ODI World Cup squad for the 2019 tournament. In a group stage match against South Africa, Khan registered his 50th ODI wicket. He played the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.
Shadab Khan Test Career
Following his T20I and ODI breakthroughs, Shadab Khan made his Test debut for Pakistan on April 30, 2017, against the West Indies at Bridgetown.
Having a proven reputation in the shorter formats, Shadab has yet to find his mojo in Tests.
