Fresh controversy has surrounded the family of Mohammed Shami after serious allegations have emerged against his brother, Mohammed Kaif. It is important to note that Mohammed Shami has previously been in the spotlight due to legal disputes involving him and his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan.

Meanwhile, Shami continues to face ongoing legal disputes with Hasin Jahan, including allegations related to domestic matters; some of these cases are still pending in court.

The star player, Shami, is currently playing in IPL 2026 for Lucknow Super Giants. In the ongoing season of the cash-rich league, the star player has featured in 8 matches and bagged 7 wickets at an economy rate of 8.06. 

Who is Mohammed Shami's brother, Mohammed Kaif?

Mohammed Kaif is a domestic cricketer who has represented Bengal in Indian domestic cricket. He is also a right-arm medium-fast bowler and a right-handed batter.

He has played across multiple formats in domestic tournaments, including the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Over the course of his career, Mohammed Kaif has taken 43 wickets in 14 first-class matches and 12 wickets in 9 List A games. 

He has also contributed with the bat, making 134 runs in 14 innings in FC matches and 23 runs in 9 List A matches.

 Mohammed Shami's brother, Mohammed Kaif accused

In a recent report by ABP Live, a woman has accused Mohammed Kaif of misleading her with a promise of marriage and later avoiding commitment. 

It is vital to note that, according to her, she first met Mohammed Shami's brother, Mohammed Kaif, through a mutual friend. 

She also mentioned that they started having simple conversations on Instagram and eventually their bond developed into a romantic relationship. However, she also stated that the situation changed after the topic of marriage came up.

The woman has alleged that Mohammed Kaif began to avoid clear answers and started making repeated excuses whenever she raised the issue of commitment.

"According to the complainant, she met Kaif through a mutual acquaintance named Imran. Their initial interaction gradually developed into a friendship and continued conversations on Instagram, which eventually turned into a relationship. However, she alleges that the situation changed once marriage was discussed, after which Kaif allegedly began avoiding clear answers and eventually withdrew from the relationship" according to ABP Live.

Calling his behaviour dishonest, the woman accused Mohammed Kaif of cheating her emotionally and ending the relationship without giving a direct response.

Voter list dispute adds to controversy

This is not the first time the Mohammed Shami's family has faced controversy in recent months. In early 2026, both Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Kaif were summoned by authorities in Kolkata over differences in electoral roll forms. 

The issue reportedly involved irregularities in voter list documentation, prompting an official hearing.
