As the rain gods are not too pleased, the play in the third T20I between Bangladesh and New Zealand has been halted in Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The weather for the BAN vs NZ 3rd T20I was always a point of concern, with the probability of precipitation in Mirpur 96%, with a 83% cloud cover. Although dark clouds hovered over the arena, the game did start on time, but only to halt after 6.3 overs into the game.

Initially, it started with a light drizzle, then pelted down like anything. Not just that, the game has been halted for over 30 minutes, with no further updates regarding the resumption.

Meanwhile, rain delays and matches getting suspended is not a biggie in this series, as the BAN vs NZ 2nd T20I was washed out in Chattogram.

Play paused in BAN vs NZ 3rd T20I

On Saturday, New Zealand opted to bowl first against Bangladesh in Dhaka. For the Blackcaps, Dean Foxcroft and Nathan Smith started off well, but Jayden Lennox got them the maiden blood in the form of Saif Hassan. Meanwhile, Smith broke Bangladesh's back by striking twice, ending Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon's stays.

However, as Litton Das (25* off 13) and Towhid Hridoy (2* in 5) were looking to revive the innings, it started pelting down soon after the end of the powerplay.

It is worth noting that the weather is predicted not to clear anytime soon in Mirpur; however, the officials are still hopeful to resume the play as it is the final match of this bilateral series.

Having said that, visuals coming in from the venue suggest that the play could get called off soon, as thick water patches are visibly seen on the outfield.

After almost two hours of relentless rain, the game resumed but to be a 15-over affair.

How rain washed out BAN vs NZ 2nd T20I?

Fortunately, fans were treated to some play in Mirpur, but things were rather unfortunate in Chattogram a couple of nights ago during the BAN vs NZ 2nd T20I.

Initially, only the toss was delayed, but as it started raining like cats and dogs, things got really gloomy before the match was eventually called off after a nearly three-hour halt.

Who will win BAN vs NZ T20Is?

Any which way the hosts, Bangladesh, can not lose this series from here. As the second T20I are called off, the Litton Das-led team had taken an early led in the series.

Bowling first, Rishad Hossain bagged two wickets for the Tigers, but he lacked support from the other end. As a result, the Kiwis posted a daunting total of 182/6 on the board, thanks to half-centuries from Katene Clarke and Dane Cleaver.

However, the stylish Towhid Hridoy was enough for the tall total, as his unbeaten 51 took the hosts home in 18 overs. During the successful chase, Hridoy partnered well in two stands with Parvez Hossain Emon and Shamin Hossain, respectively.

Moreover, the Blackcaps have already surrendered against the Tigers in the ODIs, losing the series by 1-2.
