In a major development, Nitish Kumar Reddy has been declared unavailable for the T20I series against Ireland and England due to a fresh injury setback. The Indian all-rounder will miss the two T20Is against Ireland and 3 T20Is against England due to a left quadricep injury, which has reportedly aggravated.Reddy was ruled out of the second ODI against Afghanistan because of a sore left thigh, before returning for the final match, where he just bowled six overs. Notably, he was named in both Test and ODI squad, but only featured in two matches. The BCCI, meanwhile, is trying to groom a backup for Hardik Pandya, who has a long history of injuries. After a dull IPL 2026, the veteran all-rounder missed the three ODIs against Afghanistan due to a series of injuries. He is currently working on his rehabilitation with the BCCI medical team, but won't be available for the entire UK tour. Thus, Reddy was picked as a sole fast-bowling all-rounder. Nitish Kumar Reddy is a trusted batter, though his medium pace bowling is still a 'work-in-progress'. However, injuries won't help his cause either, as he is seen as a three-format prospect. Notably, it will be the maiden India call-up for the 23-year-old all-rounder from Mumbai, who bats flashily in the middle order and can bowl medium pace part-time. In his brief domestic career, the all-rounder has played just 15 List-A and 30 T20 matches, notching 614 runs and scalping 24 wickets at decent numbers.
