In a significant development, India have dealt a heavy blow as Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of England ODIs. Notably, the MI captain has failed to recover in time from his quadricep injury and will not travel with the Indian team to the UK.
Hardik Pandya suffered the injury during his rehabilitation at the CoE, which led to him missing the ongoing ODis between India and Afghanistan. Although there was a belief that the 32-year-old would be fit in time for the England series. However, the BCCI medical team didn’t give a green signal for the MI star to travel to England.
Hardik Pandya To Not Travel To England
Abhishek Tripathi from Dainik Jagran broke the news and stated that Hardik Pandya has failed the fitness test. Notably, India will play the three ODIs from July 14-19, which means that the star all-rounder will take another month's time to recover from his injury.
The report added that Hardik Pandya failed to complete his quota of overs in the assessment test, which led to the doctors declining him permission to join the Indian team.
Meanwhile, Tripathi also provided an update on Virat Kohli and remarked that the 37-year-old is progressing well and will undergo a fitness Test on June 22 in Bengaluru, which will decide whether he will play England ODIs or not.

Hardik Padya's Frequent Injuries Put 2027 ODI World Cup At Risk
Before the squad for Afghanistan and UK tour was announced, Ajit Agarkar cleared that Hardik Pandya is one such player that India wants to be fit for 2027 ODI World Cup. It came after the MI captain suffered a back injury in the backend of IPL 2026.
The 32-year-old was actually at the CoE to recover from his back injury. The doctors had also declared him fit and within 24 hours of that report, a fresh update took everyone by surprise which ruled Pandya out of Afghanistan ODIs.
Notably, Pandya suffered a quadricep injury and it is quite surprising to see him not recover till now and actually miss two ODI series. It has certainly put his World Cup participation in doubt, because Nitish Kumar Reddy is thriving in his absence.
In the Afghanistan ODIs, Reddy failed to get batting but has done well with the ball and picked up two wickets in the 1st ODI.
When Will Hardik Pandya Return To Action For India?
After the England series, India will not play a solitary ODI till September 2026. During that period, West Indies will tour India for a multi-format tour. The Caribbean side will play three ODIs starting from September 27, which could be Hardik's return to team in ODIs.
Before that India will go to Zimbabwe in July for a T20I series, which can also a great practice ground for the India all-rounder.
