Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai Indians Accused Of Big IPL Controversy (Source: AFP Photos)
Mumbai Indians (MI) principal owner Mukesh Ambani, among others, landed themselves in massive trouble after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL). More significantly, it involved money, making the matter even more controversial.
The Ambani family, consisting of Mukesh’s wife, Nita Ambani and his eldest son, Akash Ambani, were often seen during the IPL whenever Mumbai Indians (MI), the five-time champions, were in action. However, they did not expect such accusations to be levelled at them, particularly since they are primarily involved in managing the star-studded franchise.
Mitchell Santner Opens Up On His IPL 2026 Salary
New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner was part of the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026. He made headlines while being at the receiving end of the first concussion substitute of the season, as Shardul Thakur came in place of him in a very controversial manner.
After that, he was ruled out of the rest of the season due to a left shoulder injury, and Mumbai Indians later signed Keshav Maharaj for INR 75 lakh.
In a conversation with the Grade Cricketer Podcast, Santner left everyone stunned with a shocking remark. There, the star all-rounder, easily one of the best at present when it comes to T20s, revealed that he was only paid half of his IPL 2026 salary, which was INR 2 crore.
“Well, they gave me half my cash, so that actually hurt a little bit,” Santner said at the Grade Cricketer Podcast.
Adding to that, Santner revealed that he suffered injury setbacks twice during IPL 2026, not once.
“I got there, missed the first game, birth of my second child, got there straight off the plane, played Delhi, did [injured] my right shoulder, out for kind of week. I came back a couple of games later, did [injured] my left and went home. So I did [injured] two shoulders in the space of kind of two weeks. So I thought I was putting my body on the line for them, but obviously not,” he added.
How Has Mitchell Santner Fared In IPL 2026?
Amid injury woes, Santner could only play four matches for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026. There, he picked up five wickets, including impressive bowling figures of 2/16 off his three overs against Gujarat Titans.
With the bat, Santner made 26 runs without losing his wicket for once.
Overall, Santner has played 35 IPL matches, and picked up 30 wickets with an economy rate of 7.51. Before joining Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai Indians, he was associated with Chennai Super Kings, where his countryman and cricket legend Stephen Fleming had been in charge as head coach for years.
It would be interesting to see whether Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai Indians will take action on Santner’s recent comments for the future.
