Shreyas Iyer to replace Suryakumar as India’s captain
Shreyas Iyer will reportedly replace Suryakumar Yadav to become the next Indian T20I captain going ahead. While Suryakumar recently led Team India to 2026 T20 World Cup win, the prolific middle-order batter has been struggling with form concern for the past few months.

Shreyas, meanwhile, is yet to play a T20I for India since December 2023. However, the cricketer has led the KKR and Punjab Kings franchise to immense success in the IPL in recent IPL seasons.
Ruturaj Gaikwad replaces injury Virat Kohli for AFG ODIs
Virat Kohli has been ruled out of India squad for the upcoming three-match home ODI series against Afghanistan. The cricketer suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad a few days ago.
According to reports, Kohli has been replaced by CSK captain and prolific top-order batter Ruturaj Gaikwad for the series. The selection committee will be expected to make an official announcement soon.
KS Bharat announces international retirement
Indian wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat has announced his retirement from international cricket, doing so at the age of just 32. The cricketer played seven Tests for Team India, all between 2023 and 2024 when regular wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was recovering from his near-fatal car accident.
In his emotional Instagram post, Bharat thanked the BCCI for assisting him in his journey. The Andhra cricketer also thanked his IPL and India captains Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Nat Sciver-Brunt set for conditional return for T20 World Cup 2026
England Women’s captain Nat Sciver-Brunt will be making her return to the national team for the upcoming 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at home. The cricketer recently suffered an injury, which forced her to miss England’s home series against India and New Zealand Women.
England’s head coach Charlotte Edwards confirmed that while Nat will be available to play, the all-rounder will not bowl in the tournament.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set for India debut: Report
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, aged just 15, will reportedly be selected in Team India squad for the upcoming white-ball series against Ireland and England. As per reports, the youngster is in line to be picked by the BCCI within the next few days.
Sooryavanshi recently won the coveted Orange Cap in the IPL 2026 season for plundering 776 runs with an average of nearly 50, doing so by launching 72 sixes in the tournament.
