Mohammad Rizwan Refuses To Leave After Getting Out [Source: X]
Pakistan’s lone fighter, Mohammad Rizwan, got dismissed on day 5 of the second Test against Bangladesh as the opposition inched closer to victory. However, despite the clear dismissal, the wicketkeeper batter refused to leave the field.
Things began to spiral for Pakistan when they were tasked to chase 437 runs in the second Test at Sylhet. After losing two wickets early, Shan Masood and Babar Azam stitched a 92-run partnership to show some fight.
Mohammad Rizwan misses a century by 6 runs
However, after their dismissals, the onus to save the Test dropped on Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha’s shoulders. The duo built a 134-run partnership and kept fighting against a chirpy Bangladesh side.
But on day 5, Mohammad Rizwan threw it all away. Bangladesh introduced Shoriful Islam back into the attack, looking for reverse swing and extra seam movement with the older ball.
Shoriful bowled a hard back-of-a-length delivery angled across Rizwan, who stayed rooted on the crease instead of fully committing forward or back.
Because of that indecision, he ended up poking at the ball away from his body, and the seam movement found the outside edge. At gully, Mehidy Hasan Miraz reacted brilliantly. He moved low to his left and held onto a sharp chance.
The dismissal immediately triggered emotional celebrations because everyone knew how important Rizwan’s wicket was. He was batting at 94 and missed his century by just 6 runs.

Rizwan refuses to leave the field
While Bangladesh erupted in wild celebration, a dejected Mohammad Rizwan refused to leave the field. He stood at the crease for a brief period, stared at the surface and reluctantly took the slow and painful walk back to the pavilion.

Mohammad Rizwan's wicket could have made the difference and pushed Pakistan to a draw. However, Bangladesh were too ruthless with their bowling. Not only that, Litton Das and the rest of the fielders sledged Rizwan constantly to break his concentration.
Eventually, Bangladesh succeeded as they bowled out Pakistan for 358 runs in the fourth innings to win by 78 runs and complete a series whitewash for the first time against Pakistan on home soil.
Pakistan slip further in WTC standings
Meanwhile, after getting whitewashed by Bangladesh, Pakistan slipped to the eighth spot on the WTC 2025-27 points table. Earlier, they were docked points for a slow over rate in the first Test, and now, this defeat only adds to their misery.
At this rate, it is nearly impossible for Pakistan to even dream of qualifying for the WTC 2027 finals.
On the other hand, Bangladesh surprised India to climb to the fifth spot with 58.34 points. Currently, Australia are seated at the top of the standings with 87.50 points, followed by New Zealand in second place.
