With 121 runs still needed and only three wickets remaining, all eyes are now firmly on Mohammad Rizwan and Pakistan’s lower order. From Litton Das engaging in verbal exchanges to Nahid Rana attempting a throw towards him late on Day 4, the hosts pushed hard for the remaining wickets. Rizwan now carries Pakistan’s hopes heading into a decisive Day 5 where one special innings could completely change the match. Interestingly, the situation mirrors the famous rescue act by Inzamam-ul-Haq against Bangladesh nearly two decades ago, giving Pakistan fans another reason to believe. When Inzamam-ul-Haq pulled off a similar fourth-innings chase for Pakistan against Bangladesh in 2003 As Mohammad Rizwan and Pakistan need 121 runs to pull off what would be a remarkable fourth-innings chase against Bangladesh on Day 5, Inzamam-ul-Haq once produced something similar for Pakistan against the same opposition back in 2003 during a tense Test match battle. Pakistan were chasing 261 in that Test in Multan and finished Day 3 struggling at 148/6, still needing 113 runs with only the lower order left. Just like Rizwan today, Inzamam carried Pakistan’s hopes alone and walked into the final day under enormous pressure and expectation. Starting Day 4 unbeaten on 53, Inzamam-ul-Haq produced one of Pakistan’s finest fourth-innings rescue acts against Bangladesh. The veteran went on to score an unbeaten 138, guiding his side over the line with a remarkable century under immense pressure and scripting a memorable comeback victory by 1 wicket. Can Mohammad Rizwan repeat Inzamam-ul-Haq’s iconic 2003 fourth-innings miracle for Pakistan? Inzamam-ul-Haq’s remarkable 2003 fourth-innings century to take Pakistan home in Multan can now serve as a major inspiration for Mohammad Rizwan. Back then, Pakistan needed victory in the third Test to complete a dominant 3-0 series sweep against Bangladesh at home. More than two decades later, Rizwan now faces a very different challenge in Sylhet. Pakistan need him to pull off a special chase and avoid the humiliation of a 2-0 Test series defeat against Bangladesh, making Inzamam’s iconic rescue act the perfect inspiration heading into Day 5.
