Vaibhav Sooryavanshi seems to be busy in raising his stocks with almost every passing day. After bagging the coveted ‘Orange Cap’ of the IPL 2026 season, the 15-year-old has now been selected in Team India squad for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England.
On the verge of surpassing Sachin Tendulkar in becoming India’s youngest international debutant, the cricketer has now been backed by Bollywood actress and politician Kangana Ranaut to bypass some of the greats of Indian cricket.
Kangana Ranaut wants Sooryavanshi to win a World Cup
While speaking with the reporters at a movie event, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut expressed her admirations for young Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. She added that she wants Sooryavanshi to surpass even the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli for the sake of the Indian cricket team.

While the actress-cum-politician refused to put any pressure on the 15-year-old, she jokingly urged the youngster to bring home a “World Cup”.
Kangana Ranaut said “We really wish him the best. And we want him to be better than Sachin or Virat, for our country. I mean, not to put any pressure on him, but bring the World Cup or something. You look good.”
When Vaibhav Sooryavanshi won India a World Cup
Compatible to Kangana Ranaut’s request, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has already won India a World Cup title. Back in February earlier this year, the belligerent left-handed opener blasted 175 runs off just 80 balls against England in the final as India clinched the 2026 ICC Men’s U19 World Cup in Zimbabwe.
Sooryavanshi also won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award for aggregating 439 runs in just seven innings at a prolific average of 62.71. He maintained a staggering strike rate of 169.49 in the process, plundering three half-centuries and a ton. The youngster also launched 30 sixes in the competition, the highest among all batters by a landslide.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set for India debut after IPL 2026 riches
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi recently scored 776 runs in just 16 innings of the IPL 2026 season for the Rajasthan Royals. Scoring his runs at an average of 48.50 and a strike rate of 237.30, the 15-year-old won the coveted ‘Orange Cap’.
The 72 sixes he hit in the tournament also marked the highest number of sixes hit by any single batter in a single IPL season, surpassing Chris Gayle’s decade-old record with relative ease. In the match against the SRH in New Chandigarh, Sooryavanshi also nearly broke Gayle’s fastest century record before he was dismissed for 97 from 29 balls against the SRH.
He has now been selected in Team India squad for the upcoming T20I series in Ireland and England. Set to play under the leadership of new captain Shreyas Iyer, the youngster will be accompanied by fellow star performers like Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube and vice-captain Tilak Varma.
