Samson, Abhishek, Ishan and Bumrah come to the fore as India win T20 World Cup 2026
Team India scripted history by defeating New Zealand and lifting the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in grand style in Ahmedabad. Batting first, half-centuries from Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and a sparkling late cameo of Shivam Dube helped the ‘Men in Blue’ mount 255-5 in 20 overs.
In response, both Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah picked up wickets in a canter to keep New Zealand down in an improbable chase. The outcome marked India’s third T20 World Cup win, second in succession to become the first side in history to do so. Suryakumar Yadav and co. also became the first team to win a T20 World Cup on home soil.
IPL 2026 gets a launch date by BCCI
The IPL 2026 season is set to launch on March 28 later this month, as confirmed by the BCCI and the official broadcasters of the tournament. While the board is yet to unveil an official schedule of the competition, the latest update confirmed the start date amidst concerns of coinciding with the impending elections in several Indian states.

The opening match of IPL 2026 will be hosted by the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. As of now, it remains to be seen which franchise will go up against the hosts and defending champions on the opening day.
Sutherland crushes India as Alyssa Healy bows out in style
Australia Women crushed India by 10 wickets on Day 3 of their one-off Test to seal the all-format home series by a 12-4 margin. Annabel Sutherland bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award for scoring 129 and for picking up six wickets across both innings of the match.
With the win, legendary Australia cricketer Alyssa Healy also bowed out in style, thus bringing down curtains on her glittering international career. During the press conference, the outbound skipper spoke her heart out, and explained why she did not want to bat in the decisive innings on Day 3.
Amelia Kerr stars with bat and ball as NZ Women go 2-0 up
New Zealand Women’s team walloped Zimbabwe by eight wickets with 202 balls remaining in Dunedin to take a 2-0 lead in their three-match home ODI series. Captain Amelia Kerr herself delivered a ‘Player of the Match’ performance by scoring a swift 40-ball 45 and for picking up sensational figures of 7-34.
Amelia’s spell marked the best-ever figures by any women’s captain in ODI cricket, surpassing the previous record set by former India skipper Mamatha Maben (6-10).
Lea Tahuhu announces her retirement from ODI cricket
New Zealand Women’s fast bowler Lea Tahuhu has announced her retirement from ODI cricket. The 35-year-old played the last of her 103 ODIs for New Zealand back in October 2025 late last year during the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup. The cricketer has featured in four ODI World Cups for her side, all between the 2013 and 2025 editions of the tournament. Tahuhu will conclude her ODI career with 125 wickets from 102 innings at an average of 28.01.
