Beating New Zealand by 96 runs in the historic final in Ahmedabad, India sealed an emphatic victory. From Virat Kohli to the other stars across the nation showered immense praise on Suryakumar Yadav and Co.

In cricket history, there were no instances of a team defending the T20 World Cup title, but Team India flipped the script. After a stunning group stage and Super Eight stage, the challenge was big in front of the Men in Blue, but they showcased excellence when it was needed the most.
After Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson gave a thrilling start, the home side gained an early edge. After Abhishek walked away scoring 52, Samson played a stellar knock of 89 runs in just 46 deliveries. With Ishan Kishan’s 50 and Shivam Dube’s fiery 26, they put on a total of 255 runs.

But the drama ignited in the second innings when Indian bowlers proved to be heavy on the New Zealand batters. Even though Tim Seifert and Mitchell Santner tried to keep the game alive, the batting lineup collapsed dramatically, finishing their innings at 159 runs.
After Team India defended the title dominantly, celebrations erupted across the nation, with fans calling it a Diwali-like moment in March. Once Suryakumar Yadav and Co. sealed the title, Virat Kohli praised the outstanding triumph.

Sachin Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh shower massive praise on the Men in Blue
The moment became even more special as Sachin Tendulkar extended his wish to the newest T20I champions. While praising the exceptional performance, he backed Team India as deserving winners.
“Winning the World Cup twice in a row, the first time any team has done so in the T20 format. Totally deserving and rightful winners of the trophy. What a fantastic performance by our team and a special brand of cricket on display. Well done, Team India. Jai Hind!” Sachin Tendulkar said.
As the entire nation celebrates the historic milestone, former Indian players may be away from the 22 yards, but they joined the celebrations wholeheartedly. After they sealed the trophy, former Indian player Harbhajan Singh extended his warm wishes to the T20 World Cup 2026 winners early on.
“Congratulations Team India in Advance before the network gets too busy. Super proud of our Team 🇮🇳 JAI HIND,” Harbhajan Singh wrote on his social media handle.
Yuvraj Singh sends wishes as Virender Sehwag reacts in his trademark style
When Team India first lifted the trophy in 2007, Yuvraj Singh remained one of the main warriors of the Men in Blue. Years later, as India tasted the same glory again by defending the title, Yuvraj couldn’t hold back his emotions and penned a heartfelt note.
