The Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans are on the cusp of making history. Both teams have won the IPL title only once, and whichever side wins will begin creating a legacy of its own. As both teams are set to take on each other at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31, a serious issue has been forecast just hours before the mega battle.

According to the local meteorological department, a yellow alert has been issued for parts of Ahmedabad, with high wind speeds and possible thunderstorms expected on the day of the IPL 2026 final.

What If IPL 2026 Final Gets Washed Away On May 31?

While the forecast has created a wave of tension among cricket experts and fans, there is some relief in the fact that a reserve day has been scheduled for the IPL final. In the event of a weather-related interruption on May 31, the IPL 2026 final will be played on June 1, 2026.

However, if Monday, the reserve day for the IPL 2026 final, is also affected by rain, there is a possibility that Royal Challengers Bengaluru could lift the trophy without a single ball being bowled.

Ahmedabad has been reeling under a heatwave, with temperatures reaching 43.1 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

This led to severe heatwave warnings, and there are indications that rainfall could affect Ahmedabad and nearby areas on June 1. However, rain interruptions during Sunday's final cannot be ruled out either.

How RCB Will Be Crowned IPL 2026 Winners?

If the match is interrupted on both days and no result is possible, RCB will be declared champions because they finished higher than Gujarat Titans in the league-stage points table. RCB topped the standings, while Gujarat Titans finished second.

This situation has occurred before in the IPL. The IPL 2023 final between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings was played on the reserve day after thunderstorms and heavy rain caused flooding in parts of Ahmedabad on the original match day.

GT To Fight For Their Lives In High Stakes Final

Nevertheless, whether RCB are declared winners without play or not, Gujarat Titans will be eager to turn up the heat if they get a chance on the field.

The Titans will host RCB at their home ground for the final instead of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, following several rule violations and incidents of ticket black marketing witnessed during a group-stage match there.

GT will be even hungrier after their defeat against RCB in Qualifier 1. After storming past Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2, they will be eager to bounce back in top form.

Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will lead the batting department, while Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Sai Kishore, and Rashid Khan will spearhead the bowling attack against a strong and tactically deep RCB side.
